What kind of RNC leader associates herself with this kind of behavior?
Lara Trump has launched into her new position as RNC co-chair, but she’s already demonstrated a disdain for decency that should disqualify her from leadership roles. She’s made multiple appearances on the podcast of MAGA “comedian” Alex Stein, including one in which he tells his viewers to prepare to storm Capitol buildings, as well as Target stores.
Stein is a self-appointed provocateur and troll, who previously caught attention by sexually harassing Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on the steps of Congress, and then by spreading sexual rumors about Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). Nonetheless, Lara Trump has appeared on his show multiple times, including earlier this month to promote her book.
While Lara was on stage, Stein pretended to kick a baby and set it on fire — actually taking fire to a doll and kicking it off the set. While she was off the stage, what he did could earn him questions from federal agents. MeidasTouch quotes him:
‘I, and say your name, …dedicate my life to the pursuit of creating a like minded community of chat rats that are willing to die …for anything that Alex Stein tells them to do including storming any capitol buildings …including storming the Capitol or storming local city—'”
At this point, producer Jimmy Von Thron tried to correct or redirect, insisting that Stein say he only meant for viewers to attend meetings, and Stein doubled down, insisting he wanted his fans to storm the Capitol building and “do damage,” and that they should do the same at Target stores for having bathing suits they see as “target[ing] children” with transgender acceptance.
This last demand appears to be a reference to social media activists attacking trans acceptance last year by claiming the stores were selling “tuck-friendly” swimwear aimed at children. It was a lie, as the Associated Press reported at the time.
He specifically called for fans to “run in and break a lot of glass.”
Other lowlights of the episode included repeating claims that President Joe Biden is suffering from mental decline and is not actually running the country; griping about LGBTQ-oriented books in schools; presenting a song about “smoking crack with the president’s son;” and insisting that the racist “great replacement theory,” rooted in Nazi ideology, is real. Lara opined:
“Is that controversial? Is that even up for debate? Why else would you have a fully-open border…if you weren’t banking on…those people voting for you?”
