RECEIPTS: Biden presents evidence of Trump’s EXTREME anti-choice agenda

Donald Trump says that his position on abortion is about giving the people what they want, that Americans across the political spectrum wanted the Roe precedent overturned, and that, if elected, he intends to leave the decision to the states and not impose a federal abortion ban.

Democrats say that he’s lying — as usual — and President Joe Biden has been presenting evidence that Trump and his party hold extreme anti-choice positions that they’ll impose on every American if they get another opportunity to do so.

This time, it’s a leaked clip of a Trump-endorsed candidate supporting a ban on the post-coitus contraceptive pill, Plan B.

In contrast to any claims that Republicans would only ban abortions further along in pregnancy, such as when they (falsely) claim the fetus is able to feel pain, or at some other generally arbitrary point, Plan B can only be used within a few days after unprotected sex. They do not kill a fetus, either. They work by delaying or preventing ovulation, according to the Mayo Clinic.

And yet, Republicans want to ban it, too.

Here’s what Biden shared. The man you’ll hear on this recording is former Michigan Attorney General candidate Matthew DePerno. He lost his election, but he went into it with Trump’s endorsement, and Trump endorsed him again, for chair of the Michigan Republican Party the following year.

Here’s what Trump’s endorsee said on a leaked recording:

“You gotta figure out how you’d ban the pill from the state…You have to stop it at the border…The state has to ban it, and it should be banned, but it’s just an issue of how do you enforce it.”

Once the recording became public, DePerno tried to ‘clarify’ that he would only ban using it after conception, according to MLive.

There are two problems with that: first, it contrasts with his claim that he’d want to stop the pill from coming into the state, and “stop it at the border,” and second, that it’s literally not how the pill works.

Even under an ideology that considers terminating the life of a fetus to be murder, Plan B doesn’t fit the description. Instead, banning it would be an attack on rape victims — who are often given a dose in the ER — and on a woman’s right to choose not to become pregnant.

President Biden is making sure voters know that this is what Republicans are aiming for and that Trump endorses Republicans who set that goal.

It’s something to keep in mind as you make your decision on whom to support in November.
