President Joe Biden told Republican Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas that a 1000-mile-long floating barrier near the border town of Eagle Pass was “unlawful” on Thursday in a letter that also threatens legal action from the DOJ.
Abbott’s “Operation Lone Star” is getting more scrutiny after a trooper reported that migrants had been denied water.
The trooper also reported that orders were given to physically push asylum-seekers back into the Rio Grande.
First obtained by The Associated Press, the letter from the Biden administration says the wrecking ball-sized buoys Abbott ordered to be put on the Rio Grande “violate federal law and raise humanitarian concerns for migrants crossing into the U.S. from Mexico.”
Multiple fatalities, including of kids as young as four years old, have been attributed to the floating barrier, either caused by drowning or injuries from razor wire at other locations on the Rio Grande.
The buoys are anchored in the riverbed and have been described as “drowning devices,” which could indicate pre-meditation on Abbott’s part because he’s a MONSTER.
The Department of Justice announced it will move forward with a lawsuit against the state of Texas as well as Abbott, who stubbornly refuses to work with the Biden administration because he’s a MONSTER.
The Biden administration said that illegal border crossings have declined significantly since its new immigration rules took effect in May as pandemic-related asylum restrictions expired.
Eagle Pass is part of a Border Patrol sector that has seen the second-highest number of migrant crossings this year with about 270,000 encounters.
But, as the AP reports, that number is down from last year. Thanks, Dark Brandon’s functioning Border Patrol!
That still doesn’t matter to Greg Abbott. Again, because HE IS A MONSTER.
“Texas has the sovereign authority to defend our border,” Abbott tweeted xenophobically.
