After he was arraigned on 34 felony counts at the end of March, Donald Trump immediately turned his anger on the judge who was presiding over his case.
For the last two months, Trump has been posting plenty of criticism about the Honorable Juan Merchan — and his family — in posts on his failing Truth Social app, posts which have resulted in threats against them.
Ignoring the MAGA violence, Trump’s never-to-be-paid lawyers describe Judge Merchan as a “Trump-hating judge” and have filed a motion to remove him from Trump’s New York City criminal case.
Susan Necheles and Todd Blanche clearly graduated from the law school at Trump University, because they’re really scraping for any way to keep their employer from testifying.
They claim Merchan is “biased” against Donny 34 Indictments because he was also the judge in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ case against the Trump Organization.
By “involving himself” in plea negotiations for Trump’s longtime finance chief, Allen Weisselberg, Merchan had the audacity to require him to testify against Trump’s company in exchange for a five-month jail sentence.
Trump’s case is “historic,” they wrote in their motion for recusal.
“It is important that the People of the State of New York and this nation have confidence that the jurist who presides over it is impartial.”
That’s just called DOING HIS JOB, something Donald Trump can’t recognize because he’s never worked a day in his miserable life.
But it’s the pathetic pettiness of this plea that pleases me so much.
Along with their motion to recuse, Trump’s lawyers submitted 42 pages of what they say is evidence of Merchan’s “political bias.”
Aside from accusing Merchan of personally being “anti-Trump,” they claim the judge has a “conflict of interest” arising from his daughter’s work for some of Trump’s Democratic rivals.
Merchan’s daughter, Loren, is a political consultant whose firm has worked on campaigns for prominent Democrats including President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Trump’s legal losers are asking Judge Merchan to explain three political donations totaling $35 (yes, that’s a big THIRTY-FIVE) that were made to Democratic causes in his name during the 2020 election cycle.
One of those donations was for a whopping $15 to now-President Joe Biden’s campaign against Trump, which I’m going to say was the real trigger for Toddler Trump.
The bottom line here is that if Trump has to take the stand in this trial, HE WILL GET IN BIG TROUBLE and that would just be really embarrassing for him.
And that’s plenty for Twitter users who have been waiting forever for the finding out part.
