UNHINGED: Trump now claims Grand Jury stands with him, issues wacko war cry

After falsely claiming he was going to be arrested on a given date — now more than a week past — an increasingly erratic Donald Trump moved to hinting that the panel had skipped arresting him due to evidence in his favor, and is now claiming that the Grand Jury refuses to vote to indict.

The problem with all of this is that the panel has not yet completed its work, and does not appear to be ready to move forward with a vote on indictment.

On the 21st, when Trump claimed he was to be arrested, there were still at least two witnesses to hear, and over a week later, there’s no official timeline.

That means the Grand Jury could still plan to hear more witnesses, it could be planning a vote quite soon, or it could have a lot more work to do first.

What we do know is that the D.A.’s office has spoken with local law enforcement to prepare for a potential indictment; that there have been violent threats as Trump continues to rage about the process; that the panel did not meet on Tuesday; and that there has been no public information released about a completion date.

Still, Trump popped on his social media Wednesday morning to claim that the Grand Jury has concluded he’s innocent, and that they’re refusing to vote for indictment.

Like his arrest date claim, the former president presented this without evidence, making unsupported and unbelievable claims about the panel’s position.

He asserted (lightly edited for readability — the full-length all-caps version can be seen below):

“The Grand Jury is saying, Hold on, we are not a rubber stamp…we are not going to vote against a preponderance of evidence or against large numbers of legal scholars all saying there is no case here. Drop this sick witch hunt, now!”

Aside from the fact that this claim has no apparent origin beside Trump’s own frantic desperation, he also doesn’t seem to believe it himself.

If he truly believed that panel had concluded he was innocent, he’d likely see no need to be sharing week-old posts calling for “war” against Democrats, but he did so last night, sharing a post from right-wing extremist Wayne Allyn Root.

That particular post calls for right-wing District Attorneys and Attorneys General to join together and indict Democrats for alleged crimes, which he admits are indictments that can’t legally be brought, both because the crimes he’s alleging are federal and can’t be tried at a state level, and because of statutes of limitations.

He even admits some have been investigated or settled, for example admitting that Hillary Clinton paid a fine for campaign finance violations, although he doesn’t mention that others — like President Barack Obama ‘spying’ on Trump’s campaign, or Dr. Anthony Fauci committing mass murder — are completely made up.

Without delving completely into the ridiculousness of Root’s suggestion, the mere fact that Trump finds “war on Democrats” — specifically as a response to the potential Manhattan indictment — worthy of a repost suggests that he still feels victimized, and is not at all confident that the indictment is, as he claims, cancelled.

Here’s Trump’s full post.
