Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-An Alabama capybara farm) is one of the more egregious examples of Trumperdom in Congress, putting his cultish devotion to the Orange Menace ahead of literally everything else.
Tuberville firmly remains in the “Trump Wuz Robbed” camp while also being one of the most staunch anti-abortion members of the Senate, which is how we got to him holding up more than 100 Pentagon nominations over its policies regarding its employees’ healthcare.
Tommy Tuberculosis can’t handle the truth that the Department of Defense covers expenses and any other needs for any troops who have to travel to obtain an abortion.
The Pentagon allows for the once-legal medical procedure in cases of rape or incest, or if the health of the mother is in danger, a policy announced in October 2022.
Terrible Tommy also just can’t abide the thought of saving the life of the host body down there in Alabamastan, y’all.
At a hearing of the Armed Services Committee on Tuesday, the guy politicizing the military hearings said “I’m not going to let our military be politicized.”
This stunt he’s pulling is putting our national defense in jeopardy, according to our Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin, who owned Tuberville easily at the hearing because he has these pesky things called facts on his side.
The retired general cited the multiple threats to America from Russia, China, and Iran, saying that there are “a number of things happening globally that indicate that we could be in a contest on any one given day.”
Austin continued laying the blame on the Republican holdout.
“Not approving the recommendations for promotions actually creates a ripple effect through the force that makes us far less ready than we need to be,” he said. “I really implore you to reconsider and allow our nominations to move forward. It will make a significant difference for our force.”

This probably won’t have any effect on Tuberville, because he sucks.
Thankfully, Senate Democrats are onto him and are calling him out.
Which also probably won’t have any effect, because Tommy Tuberville sucks.
Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville is blocking all DOD promotions and nominations,
Because he wants to restrict access to reproductive healthcare for our service members.

Seeing it for yourself is really something, too.
