Tennessee Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally might not want LGBTQ materials in his state, but he sure seems to want it on his social media, as seen by his frequent Instagram likes of a certain 20-year-old male musician.

McNally’s office has released a response in which they suggest he’s just a helpless old fellow who accidentally uses the wrong emojis sometimes, but it doesn’t begin to explain away the thirst he’s displaying in comments on one post after another.
The object of McNally’s apparent social media affection goes by the screen name Franklyn Superstar, and his Instagram page is full of videos in which he dances in short shorts, or with only a strategically-placed towel or water bottle.
The Lt. Gov can’t seem to get enough, dropping likes on post after post, and commenting rapturously on some of the most suggestive photos.

For instance, on one post (censored version below, along with other screenshots!) Franklyn declares, “I love being naked,” and releases a mirror photo of himself undressed, sitting in a bedroom.
McNally replies, “Great picture, Finn!”

In another, Franklyn, in a crop top, makeup, and a hair tie, invites fans to “hate on” the guy he’s involved with, and McNally jumps in to defend the unnamed fellow.
McNally also hits the like button on Franklyn’s videos, such as one where, in short shorts, which he rolls to cover even less, the younger man steps onto a porch railing and gyrates.
In fact, his comments, likes, and emoji responses — hearts and ‘fire’ emojis — are on photo after photo, video after video. The Daily Beast reports on the official response:

“Trying to imply something sinister or inappropriate about a great-grandfather’s use of social media says more about the mind of the left-wing operative making the implication than it does about Randy McNally,” the statement read. “As anyone in Tennessee politics knows, Lt. Governor McNally is a prolific social media commenter. He takes great pains to view every post he can and frequently posts encouraging things to many of his followers. Does he always use the proper emoji at the proper time? Maybe not.”
(For the record, a great-grandfather who is capable of working to advance anti-LGBTQ legislation in his state is also capable of being held publicly accountable for hypocrisy.)
Check out a few of McNally’s comments and likes below:
On a nude photo:
McNally: Great picture Finn! Best wishes for continued health and happiness!

Franklyn: I Facetimed the guy I love today. Everyone hate on him in the comments so that he knows he sucks!
Lt. Gov. McNally: He is not a good-for-nothing man. He is a very talented and empathetic person.
