BANNON THE RUN: Why is this MAGA scourge suddenly silent?

BANNON THE RUN: Why is this MAGA scourge suddenly silent?

Steve Bannon, who is facing up to 15 years for his “We Build the Wall” scam, is apparently on the outs with his legal team.

At a Thursday hearing in Manhattan Supreme Court, Bannon’s lawyers said their client refuses to communicate with them, resulting in a delay of the trial.

“There has been a direct breakdown in communication,” attorney David Schoen told the court.

Schoen, along with two other defense attorneys are leaving Bannon’s case citing “irreconcilable differences,” Politico reported.

Bannon has reportedly reached out to multiple firms seeking new representation.

Differences over how to proceed in the criminal case, attorneys for the former Trump adviser said that direct communication between the defense team and their client has been non-existent.

In August 2020, Bannon was arrested on the yacht of the billionaire Chinese exile Guo Wengui by federal law enforcement officials before receiving a pardon from then-President Donald Trump.

The Presidential Hail Mary doesn’t apply to state charges.

According to New York Attorney General Letitia James, Bannon – through the non-profit We Build the Wall – misappropriated the more than $15 million raised in the scam for personal gain.

Playing into the xenophobia stoked by Trump, Bannon solicited donations from unsuspecting MAGA to supposedly build a wall along the U.S./Mexico border in Sunland Park, NM.

Needless to say, the wall was never built – and the money was unaccounted for.

Though not pleased with more delays, state prosecutors say they won’t object to Bannon’s request.

Justice Juan Merchan – the presiding judge in the Manhattan District Attorney’s criminal prosecution of the Trump Organization – has given the Trumpy loyalist until February to find new legal representation.

Bannon recently made headlines following the recent riot in Brazil, when supporters of ousted far-right President Jair Bolsonaro stormed multiple government buildings – including the National Congress, Supreme Court, and Presidential palace of the country’s democratically elected leader, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Months before the attempted insurrection, Bannon recorded a video full of election lies and misinformation that was distributed on social media by Eduardo Bolsonaro – one of the former President’s sons.

The legal walls are closing in on the riot-inciting far-right nationalist. While his trial may be delayed, accountability and karma soon won’t be.
