ZELENSKY CRITICS: Gaetz and Boebert antics bring Kremlin kudos

Add Representatives Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to the list of useful Russian-loving fools within the Republican Party. Their blatant show of disrespect during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech before Congress was used to push Kremlin propaganda on an episode of Russian TV host Dmitry Kiselyov’s show.

Kiselyov, who referred to President Zelensky as “the most expensive comedian in the world,” applauded the duo’s refusal to clap or stand for the Ukrainian head of state.

Watch the clip below.

“There were a couple of brave ones. Congress members Gaetz and Boebert didn’t chap the palms of their hands,” the Kremlin loyalist said. “They demonstratively remained seated and didn’t jump up.”

Kiselyov is referring to the reported 21 standing ovations Zelensky received during his powerful and motivating speech on why the United States shouldn’t abandon Ukraine in their fight for democracy and sovereignty.

“All members of Congress had to shower the guest with applause,” said Special U.S. correspondent Denis Davydov, who was reporting for Russian TV from Capitol Hill.

A familiar — though unsurprising — face in the clip is that of Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Carlson, who is a frequent “guest” on Kremlin-funded television, was shown mocking Zelensky and the applause that the Ukraine leader received.

In a snippet of the show Tucker Carlson Tonight with the banner “Clap for Zelensky! Clap for him now!” the Putin apologist squeals and claps his hands ridiculously saying “Good point, good point, Sir! So pleased you’re here.”

“And then they clapped like seals,” Carlson said.

Daily Beast reporter, Julia Davis, tweeted the video recorded by Russian Media Monitor.

A longtime fan of Russia and of Putin’s aggression toward Ukraine, Tucker Carson has been a frequent and vocal critic of the independent country’s fight to remain independent and condemned U.S. support for Zelensky and the Ukrainian people.

But that’s nothing new.

Davydov was present at the Capitol on January 6th. Reporting for the Russian show Vesti from the grounds during the violent attack, the propagandist showed clips of the brutal attack on police officers and an angry aggressive mob.

In July 2021, The Daily Beast reported that popular Russian TV host, Olga Skabeeva, mirrored Republican talking points on her show 60 Minutes (no relation to the U.S. version) by referring to the Jan. 6th insurrectionists as “political prisoners.”

She went so far as to mock the courageous and heartbreaking testimony of Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn during the first televised hearing of the Congressional investigative panel.

“Imagine that a huge dark-skinned policeman, his name is Harry Dunn, got teary-eyed like a boy because the protesters called him the N* word,” Skabeeva said.

According to The Daily Beast, the racist fear-mongering and mockery by Skabeeva was also on full display with vile comments surrounding the shooting of domestic terrorist Ashli Babbitt.

“American negroes are starting to lynch whites,” Skabeeva falsely said.

“She was a White woman…shot by a Black policeman, and a Black policeman has the right to shoot a White woman.”

Lauren Boebert’s unpatriotic performance during Zelensky’s visit isn’t the first time she’s shown disdain for the President or his country.

The barely-re-elected congresswoman recently released a video claiming she would not support more aid being given to the country in efforts to keep Russian at bay until a full audit on previous aid given is done.

And the American people would like an audit of Boebert’s phone records on January 6th – preferably before the former Colorado business owner retakes her seat in Congress.

It’s apparent that the Republican Party has gone all in on pushing Kremlin propaganda and bucking this country’s history of supporting and spreading democracy. The GOP and its pundits are in lock-step with the authoritarian country and its regime.

Out of 213 congressional Republicans, 86 refused to attend Zelensky’s speech. It has not gone unnoticed, nor will it be forgotten.
