“I, Donald John Trump, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. So help me God.”
Those are the words that Donald Trump uttered on January 20th, 2017 when he took the oath of office and all of us began four miserable years of the worst reality television show in history — his presidency.
And it’s those words he’s seemingly forgotten today as he made yet another insane post on his Truth Social ego-platform, advocating that his followers ignore all rules and regulations in order to fight for him.
It’s not only a clear call for the kind of stochastic terrorism we saw perpetrated against Paul Pelosi but also a clear violation of his oath of office since he’s calling for the Constitution to be ignored — or more like abandoned entirely.
As Trump often does with his instigations, he phrases the first comment as a question in order to shield himself with the old “I didn’t say to do it, I just asked!” But he doesn’t even bother with such a phrasing for the second comment, endorsing lawlessness without reservation.
“He would kill his own mother just so that he could use her skin to make a drum to beat his own praises,” as Margot Asquith once said about Winston Churchill.
Well, you can be sure that Donald J. Trump would allow the entire country to burn if it moved him a centimeter ahead. And Merrick Garland, please note that it’s better to figure out real fast that Trump will stop at little to save his own hide, the rest of us be damned.
The same people who were melting down over Biden “violating the First Amendment,” even though he literally wasn’t even POTUS during the Twitter saga, are eerily silent as Trump literally called for a suspension of the entire Constitution today. Funny how that works out.

Again, this isn't difficult:
Trump just threatened to "terminate" the constitution. Send a military detachment to Mar-a-Lago, seize him, detain him in a stockade or brig, and try him in a military court.
This is an open attempt at a Revolution to overthrow the government. pic.twitter.com/0mh5WZa0wm

There are certainly issues with the Constitution that we could debate — it’s far from a perfect document which is why the founders included a mechanism to amend it.
But Trump’s criticism doesn’t stem from any ideological or practical reasoning. First off, that would involve reasoning — not his strong suit.
And secondly, I’ll lay you dollars to donuts that he’s never read the thing because, well, that would involve reading — Trump’s kryptonite.
No, Donald Trump’s “reasoning” — if you can call it that — is (and has always been): Do whatever is necessary to win for yourself, no matter how many people you have to hurt, how many lives you have to upend, how many villages you have to burn, how many rules you have to break, and whatever rights and laws you need to abuse.
Days after Trump dined with men who praise Hitler and the Nazis, he demands the ‘termination’ of the Constitution’s electoral process so he can be illegally reinstated. Trump’s words and actions are unacceptable, they stoke hatred and political violence, and they are dangerous.

He’d burn the Constitution, the country, and all of us in it before giving up anything for himself.
And when the next attack on a Democratic politician occurs because of his stochastic threats, he’ll put out his hands like Mad magazine’s Alfred E. Neuman and plead innocence.
The Oath Keepers are on their way to prison. How about this oath violator?
