BARR DIS! Trump AG calls ex boss’s special master demand ‘deeply flawed’

BAR DIS

Former Trump Attorney General Bill Barr told Fox News’s Martha MacCallum that the decision granting Donald Trump’s special master request is “deeply flawed.” In response to comments made by National Review author and current Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Andy McCarthy, Barr told McCallum:

“I agree with Andy who wrote an article in the National Review this morning sort of dismantling the opinion. The opinion, I think was wrong and I think the government should appeal it.”

Barr is just the latest former federal prosecutor to criticize Judge Aileen Cannon’s ruling, and, as such, the credibility of Trump’s argument.

“The fundamental dynamics of the case are set,” Barr said. “The government has very strong evidence of what it really needs to determine if charges are appropriate.”

The Trump-appointed life-long appointee rejected a “friend of the court” brief filed by several former top-level government attorneys, challenging the legality of the ex-President’s Motion for injunctive relief, and highlighting the frivolity of Trump’s executive privilege claims – an unprecedented move that is now in even murkier legal waters after Cannon’s denial.

“Government documents were taken. Classified evidence was taken and not handled properly,” Barr said.

McCallum asked her guest if he thought the Department of Justice would win on appeal. While agreeing, Barr did say, “It could take several months,” but stopped short of saying it was a “lost cause.”

He said quite the opposite, in fact.

“It’s deeply flawed in a number of ways. I don’t think the appointment of a special master is gonna hold up, but even if it does, I don’t see it fundamentally changing the trajectory. In other words, I don’t think it changes the ball game as much as we’ll have a rain delay,” the former AG said.

The problem is that Judge Cannon has also halted the criminal investigation and time is not on the DOJ’s side.

With Trump having top secret and classified documents in his possession for over a year and a half, stalling federal investigators and his representatives flat out lying to the FBI, add the discovery of dozens of empty classified and military folders, and the clock is ticking as we get closer to the midterms.

There is evidence the coup attempt is still ongoing, and if the Democrats lose even one chamber in the midterms, we may be waiting a lot longer than a “rain delay” to see justice prevail.
