UNMITIGATED GALL: Trump doubles down on hypocrisy in PA rally rant

In his first rally appearance since the FBI discovered that Donald Trump had illegally taken top secret classified documents from the White House, the disgraced former president displayed his finely honed sense of hypocrisy by having the temerity to bring up Hillary Clinton’s emails and lead the crowd in a nostalgiac chant of “lock her up!” as he ostensibly campaigned for Pennsylvania Republican candidates Doug Mastriano and Dr. Mehmet Oz.

Given that Trump has been found dead to rights to have committed violations of regulations surrounding top secret documents far worse than any accusations that his former rival ever faced — and despite the fact that Clinton was found to have done nothing worthy of prosecution — the audacious move by the now acknowledged national security risk was a sign to his MAGA faithful that he would not take Justice Department investigation of his purloined classified information without fighting back hard.

Trump’s response to the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago was a far cry from his promise to protect all classified information that he made early in his administration.

Trump’s failure to acknowledge the supreme irony of his attacks on Hillary Clinton was not the only moment of remarkable lack of self-awareness displayed by the totalitarian wanna-be.

Trump — who inherited his dwindling fortune from his slumlord father — attacked Dr. Oz’s opponent in the Pennsylvania Senate race, Lt. Governor John Fetterman, for allegedly leaching off of his parent’s money.

It’s a testament to the dimness of the mental processes of his MAGA followers that none of them apparently noticed the behemoth of hypocrisy looming over the attacks from a man who also employed his own family as White House and campaign advisors.

Besides the abundance of hypocrisy, Trump was sure to pepper his address with his greatest hits of lies, misinformation, and xenophobia. He must have figured that blaming China for COVID is always good for a round of cheers.

Trump may have been preparing the audience for his insanity defense by implying that he is still president and that Meta-CEO and Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, visited him at the White House last week.

If that wasn’t enough proof that Trump has gone full delusional, his continuing failure to acknowledge the obvious fact that he lost the 2020 presidential election by a massive number of votes helps make the case.

Trump is trying to accuse President Biden of being divisive because he accurately called MAGA Republicans “semi-fascist.”

Trump’s speech at his Pennsylvania rally last night makes the case that Biden needs to lose the “semi” in his description of Trump and his followers.

The fact that Trump is still not in federal custody after the FBI found such obvious evidence of his criminality is what allows the former president to compound the damage he has already done to the political system in this nation by traipsing around the country inciting his supporters to consider even more violence to protect him.

Attorney General Merrick Garland needs to indict Donald Trump and prevent him from inflicting even more harm on the United States with his lies and rabble-rousing. It’s well past time.
