Irony is officially dead – and Sarah Huckabee Sanders killed it. After securing the Arkansas GOP nomination for governor, Trump’s former press secretary told an audience, “We will make sure that when a kid is in the womb, they’re as safe as they are in a classroom.” She also included nursing homes and the workplace, leaving broken brains all over Twitter.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders says she wants to keep kids as safe in the wombs as they are in the classroom. Who wants to tell her?

Sarah Huckabee Sanders just said that she'll make sure that "when a kid is in the womb, they're as safe as they are in a classroom…"
Um, who is going to tell her?

Perhaps Sanders forgot about the Westside Middle School Shooting in Jonesboro, AR in 1998. When 13-year-old Mitchell Johnson and 11-year-old Andrew Golden opened fire on classmates, killing four students, one teacher, and wounding nearly a dozen more. At the time, it was the second-worst mass school shooting in U.S. history – until Columbine would take its place a year later.
Golden would die in a car accident in 2019.

March 24, 2022, marked the 24th anniversary of the tragedy, an anniversary held just a week after Arkansas’ deadliest mass shooting when a gunman opened fire at a Dumas, AR car show on March 19th – leaving 27 injured, and one dead.

GOP gaslighting is nothing new, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders mastered the game as White House press secretary. Never mind “alternative facts,” Sanders just ignored them altogether. Who can forget her claims that Trump created more jobs for African Americans than Obama?
“This president, since he took office, in the year and a half that he’s been here, has created 700,000 new jobs for African-Americans. That’s 700,000 African-Americans that are working now that weren’t working when this president took place. When President Obama left after eight years in office — eight years in office — he’d only created 195,000 jobs for African-Americans. President Trump in his first year and a half has already tripled what President Obama did in eight years,” Sanders said.
The correct number of jobs created for African Americans under President Obama is 2.9 million, according to Vice News, which also pointed out Sanders’ Twitter apology for the fib– given begrudgingly, no doubt.
Correction from today’s briefing: Jobs numbers for Pres Trump and Pres Obama were correct, but the time frame for Pres Obama wasn’t. I’m sorry for the mistake, but no apologies for the 700,000 jobs for African Americans created under President Trump https://t.co/EXGvbliwlS

As for her promise to keep children in the womb as safe as those in the classroom – no, thank you. For once I’d be happy if this was a promise Sanders didn’t keep.
