Like most progressive women, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was outraged, distressed, and angered when news of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade was announced. Unlike most women, AOC — as the Bronx-born legislator is often referred to — possesses the political profile and inner conviction to rally her supporters to develop a game plan to confront the dystopian Handmaid’s Tale-style reality that American women, and their male allies, now face.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez took to social media this morning to present a series of posts that outline what Democrats can — and must — do to fight back against the sudden confiscation of rights that an earlier generation of women fought long and hard to gain in the first place.

AOC began by providing a justification for considering the Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization totally illegitimate.

In this last tweet, Ocasio-Cortez moves from explaining why the Dobbs decision was unjustly decided to providing concrete steps to counteract the ruling.

First, however, she examines how prior presidents dealt with their issues with the Supreme Court.

Next, AOC points to specific steps that President Biden and her fellow Democrats in Congress can take immediately to help women who want or need an abortion in the wake of trigger laws in some states that will cut off access to abortion in the weeks ahead.

AOC’s call for clearer communications from Democratic leadership is a much-needed wake-up call for those shaping the party’s messaging.

In the conclusion of her Twitter thread, Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez issues a stirring rallying cry to her fellow Democrats urging them to stop dithering in depression over the turn of events and to do something to change the situation.

Democratic leadership would be wise to take Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez’s advice on how to respond to the sudden theft of human rights from women by a rogue court whose illegitimacy AOC has provided substantial evidence for.

Call your representative and urge them in joining her to fight for the countermeasures that she suggests.
