THUMBS DOWN: Trump's Jan 6th response to calls to "hang Mike Pence" finally revealed

As Donald Trump stood comfortably watching the footage of his out-of-control MAGA mob invading the Capitol on January 6th and erecting a gallows to fulfill their chants of “Hang Mike Pence,” Trump reportedly complained about Pence being evacuated from the encroaching rioters for his own protection and was overheard by his Chief of Staff Mark Meadows saying something to the effect of perhaps his VP should be hung from that noose, new testimony before the House committee investigating the insurrection has revealed.

A report in The New York Times today details the disturbing comments allegedly made by the former president as he watched the results of his inflammatory election lies on his deluded supporters.

The story of Trump’s murderous remarks apparently comes from two first-hand witnesses, one of whom, Cassidy Hutchinson, is a former aide to Meadows and was in the room when he told the story of Trump’s comments about the prospective lynching of his vice president.

Pence was the subject of an intense lobbying campaign by Trump and his allies who were seeking to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election by convincing the then-vice president to ignore his constitutional duty to certify the electoral vote count by rejecting the electors from contested swing states and throwing the election to the House of Representatives where Republicans could reverse the will of the voters and keep Trump in office.

The House Select Committee investigating the January 6th insurrection and the behind-the-scenes efforts by the Trump campaign to reverse the results of the lawful election has been making every effort to uncover the twice-impeached ex-president’s state of mind during the insurrection when he initially failed to condemn the invasion of the Capitol and had to be begged to issue a statement asking the rioters to cease their mayhem.

This information about Trump’s comments about Pence’s hanging could wind up being exactly the type of evidence that the committee needs in order to establish that Trump was intentionally attempting to execute a seditious conspiracy to overturn the election.

Through his spokesperson Taylor Budowich, Trump attacked the committee and the findings that have leaked from the extensive investigation so far.

“This partisan committee’s vague ‘leaks,’ anonymous testimony and willingness to alter evidence proves it’s just an extension of the Democrat smear campaign that has been exposed time and time again for being fabricated and dishonest,” Budowich said on trump’s behalf. “Americans are tired of the Democrat lies and the charades, but, sadly, it’s the only thing they have to offer.”

It should be noted that the man making accusations of “Democrat lies” was documented to have made a total of 30,573 false or misleading claims — a/k/a lies — during his four years in office. by The Washington Post‘s fact-checkers, who mercifully were not required to keep up with their tabulations once Trump left the White House.

As the House Select committee inches forward with its investigation, let’s hope that the results of their exhaustive inquiry provide America and Donald Trump with the justice we all deserve.
