A consequence of making common cause with lunatics is that you are constantly called on to answer for their most extreme statements. It’s a lesson that the Republican Party has been forced to learn over and over again now that a sizeable chunk of their organization has devolved into full conspiracy theory mode. Still, they refuse to take action to actually stop the problem because they lack the courage to expel anyone from their caucus for fear of angering the MAGA base.

The QAnon Congressman, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, is quickly turning into one of the prickliest thorns in the side of GOP Leadership. Greene does not belong in polite society let alone elected government and hardly a day goes by without her releasing some truly deranged statement. Recently, she absurdly compared Jews forced by the Nazi regime to wear identifying gold stars to Americans in 2021 asked to provide proof of vaccination.

Greene tried to do some damage control by unconvincingly insisting that the meaning of her tweet was being misinterpreted.

This morning, House Minority Leader and professional coward Kevin McCarthy released an incredibly short statement saying that Greene “is wrong” and that her Holocaust comparison was “appalling.” He said that the House Republican Conference “condemns” her remarks but true to form refused to take any action beyond finger-wagging.

This kind of tepid, toothless condemnation is the best we can expect from a leader like McCarthy — a man who correctly blamed Trump for his role in the January 6th insurrection only to later backtrack and oppose the formation of a commission to investigate the deadly siege. He is a craven political creature, a man solely concerned with maintaining his own power regardless of the detrimental effects on our country.

McCarthy’s utterly milquetoast statement was quickly met with a stunning display of disrespect from Greene. Forbes‘s Andrew Solender shared a screenshot of Greene retweeting a tweet calling McCarthy a “moron” and a “feckless c*nt.”

The Congresswoman thanked the Twitter user (@ASimplePatriot) for praising her “support” of Israel and for calling out the left’s supposed support of Hamas. Greene’s retweet is no longer visible on her page, perhaps suggesting she realized it would be politically unwise to boost such an attack on her party’s House Minority Leader.

McCarthy, this is what you get for not taking a stronger stance against this woman.
