Social media tells Matt Gaetz that it’s not a good idea to tweet about high schools right now

Tone deafness seems to be a requirement for becoming an elected Republican politician these days.

There are so many examples that one could cite, but a tweet sent this morning by Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL), a man embroiled in a scandal involving accusations of illegally transporting a minor across state lines for sexual relations, is the epitome of obliviousness by a sitting GOP officeholder.

Given that the scandal that has enveloped Gaetz involves his alleged relationship with a 17 -year-old high-school-age girl, one would think that he avoid posting anything that could remind the public of the charges being levied against him by his detractors.

Instead, Rep. Gaetz dove right into the belly of the beast by posting this remarkably obtuse tweet.

It didn’t take long for the Florida lawmaker’s post to garner incredulous replies.

Hopefully, the investigation of Congressman Gaetz’s activities and his suspect Venmo payments will be completed soon, and the Trump acolyte will face whatever charges that result from the probe.

In the meantime, Gaetz would likely be better served by keeping as low a profile as possible and refraining from making comments of any sort about high schools.
