Conservative Black actress dumps on Trump after discovering empathy and compassion

It was inevitable that once Donald Trump was driven from the White House that some prior supporters of the disgraced president would conveniently find religion and try to distance themselves from him while suddenly acquiring s case of buyer’s remorse.

So it is not entirely unsurprising to see Stacey Dash, the actress-turned-Fox News commentator, publicly flagellating herself — metaphorically, of course — as penance for her enthusiastic support for the 45th president as one of that rare breed of Black conservatives.

Speaking to Britain’s The Daily Mail, Dash — whom many people know from her roles in both the Clueless film and TV series — is now attempting a rebranding as the status of Black people who still support the hero of so many white supremacists loses its currency in the evolving society of the Biden era.

Dash is now claiming that the insurrection on January 6th was the turning point in her political consciousness.

‘When that happened I was like ‘OK, I’m done. I’m truly done,’ ” Dash told The Daily Mail. “Because senseless violence of any kind I denounce. What happened on Jan. 6 was just appalling and stupid.”

Dash is now reflecting back on her time as an admittedly token angry Black woman at Fox News as a period in which she “made a lot of mistakes” due to that anger — an emotion that she now recognizes as something that is “unsustainable … and will destroy you.”

“I’ve lived my life being angry, which is what I was on Fox News,” Dash said. “I was the angry, conservative, Black woman. And at that time in my life it was who I was.”

“There are things that I am sorry for. Things that I did say, that I should not have said them the way I said them. They were very arrogant and prideful and angry. And that’s who Stacey was, but that’s not who Stacey is now. Stacey’s someone who has compassion, empathy,” Dash strangely referred to her self in the third person as if this new persona was just another character to study and conquer.

The actress spoke of her new transformation in terms that likened it to a religious conversion.

“God has forgiven me, how dare I not forgive someone else. I don’t want to be judged, so how dare I judge anyone else. So if anyone has ever felt that way about me, like I’ve judged, that I apologize for because that’s not who I am,” she declared.

Dash continued to refer to herself in the third person as she claimed that the new Stacey wouldn’t do or say the controversial things that were her hallmark during her tenure at Fox News.

“I’m not a victim of anyone,” she said. “Working for Fox at the time, that was my job. I did my job from the place I was at. Stacey now would never work at Fox, would never work for a news network or be a news contributor.”

As for her support of Donald Trump, Dash is now indicating that she is ready to move on.

‘As far as he’s concerned, [Trump] is not the president. We have a new president,’ Dash stated the obvious.

‘Being a supporter of Trump has put me in some kind of box that I don’t belong in. But he’s not the president. I’m going to give the president that we have right now a chance.’

The Clueless actress gave a clue to the possible motivation behind her sudden political conversion while discussing the stigma attached to being a Black right-winger in the Hollywood community.

‘I’ve been basically blacklisted. Being a black conservative is not easy,’ Dash moaned.

The response on social media to the actress’s penitential media spin wasn’t quite as positive as Dash may have hoped it would be.

Whether you believe Dash’s remorse for her past views and actions is genuine or not, her very attempt at transforming her personal brand speaks volumes about how much has changed since the orange monster was swept from the center of the political stage.

It would be cruel not to accept a real change of heart from anyone who looks back on their past statements and expresses sincere remorse for what they now realize were their transgressions.

It’s just that it’s so hard to tell if emotions are genuine when you’re dealing with someone who plays characters for a living.

Perhaps we can reserve judgment on Stacey Dash until we see that her future actions match the package of repentance that she’s currently peddling.
