Shameless Trump advisor continues to push election lies that inspired insurrection on Fox News

The sycophantic enablers of Donald Trump are angry that the House of Representatives has just made him the first president in U.S. history to be impeached twice, and now Fox News is providing them with a sympathetic platform for them to vent their spleens.

Peter Navarro, Trump’s Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, hit the airwaves this morning in an appearance on Maria Bartiromo’s Fox Business broadcast and it was soon obvious that the lessons of the deadly insurrection on Capitol Hill had as much impact on his partisan psyche as a gnat on an elephant’s ass.

Here is a bulb so dim and blinded by his own partisan self-interest that he fails to see how continuing to peddle the twice-impeached president’s lies about a “stolen election” makes him complicit in the insurrection.

Peddle away he did, however, telling Bartiromo and her viewers that “what happened yesterday was a travesty.”

“The Democratic Party did violence to this country by attacking a president who I believe was legally elected on November 3,” Navarro disclosed his continued delsuions.

“if the election were held today, he would be elected again, and, if he runs in 2024, he will be elected then, and I think that’s what the Democrats fear,” said the man who has obviously not perused any national polling on the subject recently.

Perhaps it was Navarro’s anger that obscured his higher cognitive functions in analyzing the events of the past week.

“I’ve never been more pissed off in my life at this place,” Navarro testily declared, presumably referring to Washington DC.

“I think there’s 74 million Americans out there who voted for President Trump who feel exaxctly the same way, so I would say to these people on Capitol Hill: Knock it off! Stop this!”

Apparently, the 81 million Americans who voted for Joe Biden are irrelevant in Peter Navarro’s mathematically-deficient estimation.

The disgraced president’s trade advisor then proceeded to tell Congress that they should allow Trump to escape all consequences for his actions, citing a list of dubious and phony accomplishments he attributed to Trump as the reason.

“Let the man leave…peracfully, with his dignity,” Navarro pleaded as if the orange buffoon ever had any.

“He was the greatest jobs president, the greatest trade negotiator we’ve ever had, hah, in this history, and this is just wrong what they’re doing,” Navarro lied.

In actuality, Trump is leaving office with “the worst jobs record since Herbert Hoover,” the president at the start of the Great Depression of the early 1930s, according to Forbes Magazine, which also published this handy report card on Trump administration trade policies from the non-partisan National Foundation for American Policy.

Perhaps even worse than Peter Navarro’s cynical gaslighting — emulating Trump’s seditious behavior while protesting the House of Representatives holding Trump accountable for it — was the journalistically dishonest response from Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo.

“Well, we know that there were irregularities in this election,” Bartiromo replied to Navarro’s jeremiad.

“We know that 70% of Trump voters have said ‘we’re not buying this election, we think it was rigged.’ Get this, you cannot say this on social media. You will get banned,” Bartiromo continued, before saying that the situation reminded her of Communist China.

Her comments are the perfect proof that now even Facebook and Twitter have higher standards for journalistic truth than the Rupert Murdoch-controlled Fox News media empire.

Comments like Navarro’s and Bartiromo’s are exactly why Trump and all of his GOP enablers have to be held as fully accountable for their assault on democracy as the domestic terrorists who invaded Congress last week.

Until enough of these anti-democratic forces are in prison and can serve as an example to those who wish to subvert the will of the people, how can ordinary Americans feel safe again?
