For all of the rancor often directed by viewers at CNN‘s Jake Tapper and his Sunday morning news program State of The Union, there is at least one principle he’s stood by in booking guests for his show that must be wildly applauded.
Appearing as a guest on another CNN program, Reliable Sources — hey, it’s the holidays and booking guests just isn’t that easy at this time of year — Tapper revealed that he had banned White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany for her inability to utter anything but lies in her public proclamations.
Tapper explained that he has been avoiding certain having certain guests appear on his programs because of their penchant for peddling blatant falsehoods when being interviewed.
“There are some people that are just so mendacious, I just wouldn’t put them on air,” Tapper said. “Kayleigh McEnany, I never booked her. Jason Miller from the Trump campaign, I would never book him.”
“I mean, these are people who just — they just tell lies the way that, you know, most people breathe,” he pointed out. “There was no value in that.”
“There’s a big difference between somebody like Kayleigh McEnany, who just like, this is what she does, she tells lies all the time. She can’t acknowledge reality. So I’m just not going to put somebody like that on air,” the CNN host concluded.
McEnany, for her part, did not accept Tapper’s characterization of her lack of truthfulness without lobbing back accusations that it was CNN that lacked credibility in this instance.
This is a therapy session for a broken network, and @jaketapper is lazy enough to participate by lobbing baseless personal attacks, with ZERO evidence.
Jake’s real problem:
I do not leak.
I do not lie.
But I DO call out the lies of the media (i.e. CNN Russia collusion hoax!) https://t.co/Gz0RWbwhJZ

McEnany’s protestations inspired an avalanche of negative responses to her claims of an unsullied reputation in disseminating only factual information.

I hope so. I want her to feel the collective suffering of an entire country that she was an active cause of.

Lies require a receptive audience too lazy to do their own research into what the truth may actually be.
Unfortunately, for Kayleigh McEnany, the audience for her prevarications, at least on Twitter, is neither lazy nor stupid and can see through her gaslighting attempts.
Thankfully, there are only 24 days left of this insanity embedded in our government before a slow and painful return to normalcy.
Let’s hope that we never forget how bad our executive branch once got and let’s make sure we never allow it to happen again.
