Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden announced today that his vice-presidential running mate will be Senator Kamala Harris of California, a former state Attorney General who has developed a ferocious reputation for standing up to President Trump and his surrogates over the past few years.

Harris will be the first woman of Black and Indian descent to run on the national ticket for a major party, offering a sharp contrast to the pronounced bigotry of the Trump/Pence administration.
With so much on the line this November, this team-up between Biden and Harris could not be any more welcome. With their combined depth and breadth of experience, they will be able to offer the kind of unified, visionary leadership necessary to dig this country out of the hole we’ve found ourselves languishing in for the past four years.
Add your name to demand Congress reject Trump’s dictatorial call to delay the election!
Together, we must all work to help Biden and Harris expel the worst president in American history from the White House and wrest our democracy back from the authoritarian clutches of Trump and his plutocratic cronies. Nothing less than the success of the American Experiment is on the ballot this election.
Twitter is already bursting with congratulatory and excited tweets from prominent Democratic politicians and celebrities. Harris has voters excited and the eventual debate between her and Pence is certain to be one for the ages.

Back when Kamala was Attorney General, she worked closely with Beau. I watched as they took on the big banks, lifted up working people, and protected women and kids from abuse. I was proud then, and I'm proud now to have her as my partner in this campaign.

I'm honored to join him as our party's nominee for Vice President, and do what it takes to make him our Commander-in-Chief.

For our entire country of course, but especially for my Black and Indian sisters, many of us who have gone our entire lives thinking that someone who looks like us may never hold high office?
