Rubio’s silver lining in children’s coronavirus infections gets tossed in social media trash heap

You have to give Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) an “A” for effort.

Even if his grade for the understanding of science would be a solid “F,” the Florida senator — who is known for his fondness for tweeting out hypocritical bible verses to disguise his deplorable conservative/anti-humanist agenda — keeps trying to spin the harsh reality of trying to open schools in a pandemic into the least damaging light for Republicans who have failed mightily in their feeble efforts to prevent the coronavirus from spreading like soft cream cheese on a toasted bagel.

Rubio’s efforts at finding a silver lining in the news about the quick shuttering of a Georgia high school because of active COVID-19 infections — just days after a student there was suspended for posting a photo of the school’s hallways crowded with maskless teenagers — fell spectacularly flat after he sent this tweet:

Add your name to demand Congress reject Trump’s dictatorial call to delay the election!

Besides Rubio’s shaky grasp of the epidemiology of this virus which can lead to one out of three children infected admitted to the ICU — similar to the rate among adults and hardy “low-risk”— according to one study, the senator ignores a new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association which found that “at least 97,000 children around the United States tested positive in the last two weeks of July,” pointing to children being a significant potential source of further spread of the virus to their families and friends.

It didn’t take long for critics on social media to pile onto Rubio for his self-serving attempts to downplay the risks of opening schools during a pandemic to try to advance Republican electoral goals.

At this point, few people actually expect much better than this type of partisan propaganda from Sentator Marco Rubio.

At least it’s good to know that a good proportion of the public sees right through his pitiful bleatings and into the core of his erroneous and deceitful soul.
