Trump’s Maria Bartiromo interview turns into a pity party as he blames Obama for everything

Fox Business News host Maria Bartiromo may need to change her last name to Barfiromo, given that her interview with Donald Trump broadcast this morning was so fawning and obsequious that it inspired nausea in any viewer not already a member of the president’s cult of personality.

Bartiromo gave the president a comfortable platform for a lengthy self-pity party, allowing Trump to ignore the fact that his disastrous handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in this country has led to nearly 90,000 deaths, approximately 53,842 of which can be attributed to his early inaction to stem the spread of the disease, according to trumpdeathclock.com.

The president has intentionally shifted the focus of his public remarks over the past few days from downplaying the dangers of the pandemic — and urging people to risk their lives to save the livelihoods of corporate oligarchs — towards sad and futile replays of his long rejected attempts to paint himself as the victim rather than the perpetrator of crimes associated with the proven Russian interference in the 2016 elections to his own benefit,

It’s likely an intentional effort that’s part of a re-election strategy that has had to be re-built from scratch now that Trump’s talking points about the thriving economy have evaporated into the thin air now laden with coronavirus particles.

Instead, Trump has reverted to his old playbook of accusing his opponents of imaginary crimes to gin up a phony scandal, except that few are now interested in his stale, reheated assertions of the supposedly criminal investigations of his campaign’s proven contacts with Russia and other illegal foreign contributors to his campaign when their lives and economic futures are on the line.

Broadcast just a day after his predecessor former President Barack Obama waxed eloquently in two separate commencement addresses to graduates of the nation’s historically black colleges and universities and to the country’s high school graduates, Trump’s interview with the sycophantic Fox Business host provided a fascinating contrast.

While Obama projected hope, empathy, and inspirational vision in well-crafted full sentences that were full of intelligence and rhetorical gifts, Trump could barely move beyond a 100-word vocabulary in his stilted and inarticulate talking points as he ironically accused his presumed Democratic rival Joe Biden of virtual senility while fully-demonstrating his own mental deterioration.

“Hoax”…blah, blah, blah…”Michael Flynn”…blah, blah, blah…”unmasking”…blah, blah, blah…”This was all Obama”…blah, blah, blah…”Comey is a corrupt person”…blah, blah, blah. You’ve heard it a thousand times before.

The victim card that Trump’s been trying to play is likely to prove to be a joker that isn’t wild as 36 million unemployed Americans will surely respond by making the “tiny violin” hand gesture when comparing their now fractured lives — and, in some cases, the lost lives of their dead family members and friends —with the president’s claimed injuries that “no other president should have to go through,” essentially the “PRESIDENTIAL HARRASSSMENT” that consists of investigations of activities that eventually led to his impeachment and acquittal by a cowardly assemblage of Senate Republicans.

Rather than repeat Trump’s wounded, defensive bearings, we’ll simply leave this video of his interview with the ingratiating Maria Bartiromo here for you to watch. Caution: we’d only suggest watching this clip if you have a strong stomach and a capacity to control your inevitable rage upon viewing it.
