Kellyanne tries to deny that Trump proposed cutting entitlements after FOX plays clip of him saying it

Donald Trump’s now-infamous mistress of spin, Kellyanne Conway, has taken mendacity to new lows over the past three years — and yet still manages to remind us on a regular basis that there is literally nothing she will not deny on behalf of the president, even if contradicting evidence is presented to her face.

On Friday, Conway treated the nation to a disturbingly Orwellian performance when she insisted that the president didn’t say the words that he said even after a clip of him saying them was played for her.

Speaking to FOX News from the White House, the counselor to the President repeatedly denied that the President had promised to cut entitlements like Social Security and Medicare in order to reduce the deficit last night at his town hall before accusing Joe Biden of planning to do the same this morning.

“Kellyanne, the president this morning promising he’ll protect Social Security and Medicare. You were there at that town hall, he said the opposite. He said that he, in a second term, would cut Social Security and Medicare and he would cut entitlement programs. Why did he say that?” asked FOX host Ed Henry.

“He didn’t say that…You’re misquoting him, respectfully” replies Conway.

When the FOX hosts played the tape of the President literally saying “we’ll be cutting” in response to “if you don’t cut something from entitlements we’ll never really deal with the debt,” Conway continued to insist that wasn’t what he was talking about: “But that wasn’t what he was talking about, he wasn’t talking about cutting entitlements.”

For the record, Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have been very open about their desire to cut spending on crucial social programs like Medicare and Social Security now that their outrageous tax cuts for the wealthy exploded the deficit to a trillion dollars.

But seeing as Social Security benefits are incredibly important to Trump’s aging boomer base, Republicans will stop at nothing to hide their true intentions until its too late.

Even, apparently, by telling you that your own ears are lying to you.
