Trump lashes out at Pelosi on Twitter after she announces he will be officially impeached

The impeachment of the worst president in American history entered a new phase today with the announcement from Speaker Nancy Pelosi that the House will be moving ahead with Articles of Impeachment. At a press conference, she stated that Trump has left Congress “no choice but to act” because he is once again seeking to undermine our elections.

“His actions are in defiance of the vision of our Founders and the oath of office that he takes to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States,” Pelosi said. “Sadly, but with confidence and humility, with allegiance to our Founders, and a heart full of love for America today I am asking our Chairman to proceed with Articles of Impeachment,” she went on.

The historic moment was treated with all the solemnity and sincerity we’ve come to expect from Speaker Pelosi. She is of course correct in her assessment that Trump has left Congress no other option. The blame falls squarely on him and his efforts to force Ukraine into launching a trumped-up investigation into Joe Biden and his son Hunter in the hopes of hurting the former vice president’s 2020 chances.

This moment has seemed inevitable for quite some time now, but the Democrats were wise to hold extensive hearings first to provide the American public with all the facts before proceeding. Now, the only people who can honestly say they are against impeachment are diehard partisans and MAGA maniacs divorced from reality. The evidence and testimonies are overwhelming and now President Trump will be impeached.

She also shared the news on Twitter.

Not surprisingly, Trump didn’t take the big announcement very well. He quickly took to Twitter to accuse Pelosi of having a “nervous fit,” a pathetic line of attack given how composed and measured she came across at the press conference.

The president claimed that Pelosi is angry because he will soon have “182 great new judges and sooo much more.” While Trump’s stuffing of the courts with staggeringly unqualified right-wing activists is certainly a cause for concern, it has absolutely nothing to do with this impeachment. Nor does the “Stock Market” and “employment records” that Trump randomly brought up in his tweet.

Trump also said he doesn’t believe Pelosi will pray for him like she said, which is an exceptionally odd thing for a man who has no real sense of religion beyond pandering to Evangelicals for votes to focus on.

“Help the homeless in your district Nancy,” said the man who has never spared a thought for the homeless in his life.

“USMCA?” he ended the tweet, implying that the Democrats impeaching him is getting in the way of a new trade deal.

Trump’s buckshot of random topics shows how desperate he’s become. All he can do now is try to distract and smear. He has no credible defense for his actions and knows he can’t stop this impeachment.

Sure, it’s likely the Republican-controlled Senate will put party over country and refuse to remove him from office, but he will still be one of very few presidents in all of American history to be impeached, and that’s a stain that’s hard to wash out. One can only imagine how much it bothers the infamously narcissistic Trump.
