On Tuesday, a clip of world leaders mocking Trump behind his back at the NATO summit went viral. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau led the pack, talking about Trump’s preposterously long press conference and his staff’s dumbfounded response to it. The other leaders, including oafish Trump sympathizer British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, seemed visibly amused by Trudeau’s performance.

The main takeaway from the hot mic moment was that world leaders simply do not respect Donald Trump on any level. This can hardly be said to be a shocking revelation given how poorly Trump is viewed in just about every part of the world, but it was still arresting seeing it so plainly laid out on camera. Trump responded by calling Trudeau “two-faced” like a wounded child and then abruptly departing from the summit.

Former Vice President Joe Biden has already capitalized on the humiliating incident by cutting a campaign ad showcasing the numerous times Trump has been mocked, ignored, or outright laughed at by foreign leaders. It’s an absolutely brutal clip that leaves the viewer with no doubt as to how profoundly Trump has eroded America’s standing in the world.
The world is laughing at President Trump. They see him for what he really is: dangerously incompetent and incapable of world leadership.

One can only imagine how poorly Trump and his turgid ego are handling this embarrassment behind closed doors. Our thin-skinned president has no real sense of humor and is pathologically incapable of laughing at himself. Above all else, he desires to be loved and respect. When he fails to receive the positive attention he so deeply craves he usually resorts to lashing out cruelly. This time though, it looks like he’s sending out his surrogates to do the dirty work.

Earlier today, Kellyanne Conway appeared on Fox & Friends and addressed the NATO clip in her usual dishonest, spin-the-story fashion. She said that the exchange between the world leaders was a “childish, churlish exchange.”
“But they were hardly denouncing the president’s policies,” she went on, despite the fact that both Trudeau and French President Emanuel Macron have publicly denounced Trump policies in the past.

“They were hardly denouncing him. People looked at this as they usually do on social media with outsize attention. ‘Oh my God look what they’re doing!’ What was it really about? It was about the fact that President Trump commands a room. And he does and maybe that makes a couple of people jealous,” said Conway.
The idea that world leaders are jealous of Trump is ludicrous. His administration is an abject failure, he is officially going to be impeached by Congress, and his reelection chances look slimmer and slimmer by the day. It’s difficult to imagine how things could possibly be any worse for Donald Trump.
