The apparently tumultuous relationship between President Trump’s media consigliere Kellyanne Conway and her husband, avowed Trump critic George Conway, has been uncomfortably pushed to the forefront of Washington politics over the past few weeks as the dissonance between the husband’s bombastic attacks on the president and his wife’s sycophantic defense grows ever sharper.
Surprising #resistance hero George may have reached a breaking point today, as he finally called out his own wife on Twitter for parroting the President’s attacks on Joe Biden.
Kellyanne Conway retweeted an admittedly bizarre video of Joe Biden talking about his, uh, “blonde leg hairs” while implying that the accusations against the President were false because he wouldn’t have needed Ukraine’s help to defeat Joe Biden in an election.

For the first time, her husband George called her out publicly and snarked back that “your boss apparently thought so!”

A few weeks ago, Kellyanne Conway publicly melted down on CNN when Wolf Blitzer brought up the conflict between the contradicting views her and her husband put forth to the public. Blitzer asked Conway to respond to a clip of her husband, Republican D.C. lawyer and improbable #resistance hero George Conway, on MSNBC analyzing that latest impeachment news.
“It’s a political question, it’s a substantive question and I don’t want to talk about your marriage because I know that there are issues there,” began Blitzer, who realized immediately that he had stepped on a landmine when she went off on him for mentioning her marriage.
“What did you just say? Did you just say there are issues there? You don’t want to talk about… why did you say that? You don’t have to play a competitor’s clip. You can just play the CNN clip. You should not have just said to your audience, ‘I don’t want to talk about your marriage, I know there are issues,'” complained a seething Conway, shooting daggers through her grim, forced and terrifying smile.

While this is all a deeply cynical, selfish, and obviously performative effort by the Conway family to ensure that they remain in the good graces of the Washingtonian elite no matter which side emerges victorious in 2020, it is surprising to see George Conway publicly challenge his wife in public like this — and perhaps evidence that their charade is becoming a little too real.
