Talk about “Fake News™!”

The man who spouts that term off every time the media publishes some true, but negatively-reflecting story about him has been caught red-handed practicing the art of fraudulent dissemination of phony facts.

Naturally, the spreading of Donald Trump’s latest lies came in one of his Twitter retaliations against the Democrats seeking to hold him accountable for at least one of the many crimes they have evidence that he has committed since taking office.

In Trump’s winner-take-all mind, when you can’t win a debate based on the actual words that your opponent speaks, you simply make new ones up — or have Fox News do it on your behalf  — and condemn the person to whom you attribute the fabricated quote.

In this case, Trump’s target was Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and there is no mistaking the deliberate misquote that the president credited as emerging from the mouth of his legislative tormentor since he put the invented verbiage in quotation marks to try to pass it off as genuine.

Nice try, Donald, and it may fool your dedicated base of low-information voters, but unfortunately the House Speaker’s actual words are available for fact-checking journalists to examine and subsequently refute your mendacious spin.

CNN’s Brian Stelter took up the mantle of setting the president — and any member of the public who still thinks that anything he says has an iota of truth in it — straight.

In other words, what Pelosi really thinks is dangerous is not letting voters decide Trump’s fate through elections, but letting the president and his cabal of insidious cronies of highly dubious ethical character cheat in the elections by illegally soliciting foreign assistance for the second time — as those who recall his entreaty during the 2016 election would know: “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing.”

That point was not lost on some of the people who responded to Trump’s duplicitous interpretation of words that Speaker Pelosi never said.

Who’s crazy now, Donald? The Speaker of the House who is trying to protect the integrity of our elections and uphold the rule of law that you disdain as beneath your privilege? Or the proven liar who believes that anyone with a brain will believe his web of deceit?

Most people would send the men in the white coats with the straightjacket directly to the White House, not to Capitol Hill.
