Fact-checking Donald Trump ensures that a bevy of studious journalists will continue to be extraordinarily busy as long the president who is seemingly allergic to the truth remains in office.
Sometimes, however, the enormity of Trump’s lies makes a fact-checker’s job as unchallenging as shooting fish in a barrel.
Take the president’s claim today during a speech at the Economic Club of New York.

During his remarks, Trump claimed three separate times that his daughter Ivanka had personally created 14 million new jobs in the American economy.
Anyone not really paying attention would politely applaud and be impressed with the selfless dedication that the spawn of Trump’s loins has focused on job creation in the American heartland.
Upon closer examination, however, the president’s hyperbolic claims succeed only in adding to the unprecedentedly impressive quantity of lies that have passed through his lips.
Given that the American economy has added less than six million new jobs since Trump took office, one has to wonder how Ivanka Trump could be personally responsible for creating every single one of them — plus an additional 8 million that have somehow managed to elude the notice of the statisticians at the Department of Labor.
Moreover, given that Ivanka was forced to shutter her fashion business last year after poor sales of her mostly foreign-made clothing and accessories and given the limited number of Trump Organization employees, the source of the jobs the presidential daughter has supposedly created remains a mystery to anyone outside of Trump’s own addled brain.
Trump himself, however, ensures that fact-checking will remain a growth industry in the American economy, at least until he either leaves office or succeeds in closing and eliminating all of the media outlets that he deems as “Fake News™.”
If watching Trump lie gives you a secret thrill, you can see the president offer his slurring oratory in the video excerpt of his speech at the Economic Club of New York in the video excerpts below.
