Ted Lieu laughs at Trump spokeswoman for dismissing evidence from “unelected bureaucrats”: Trump hired them!

In just a few short days since the full House voted to empower the ongoing impeachment inquiry into the President and publicly release previously confidential testimony, the entire political climate has changed as the facts destroy Republicans’ shallow defenses of Trump’s indefensible behavior.

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) showcased this dynamic in a savage tweet dunking on Trump’s new Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, who has not held a press conference since taking the job in July.

Add your name to tell Congress to investigate Pence for his role in Trump’s Ukraine corruption. The VP is complicit!

The California Democrat sits on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, which is directly involved in the impeachment inquiry, as well as on House Judiciary which will have the almost certain responsibility of drawing the articles of impeachment.

Moving onward, he trolled far-right Rep. Paul Gozar (R-AZ), who is a member of the House Oversight Committee and one of more than a dozen Republicans who already had access to the impeachment inquiry hearings, yet, joined thirty other GOP members in storming a SCIF to hold up a deposition. Gozar called for all of the transcripts to be released yesterday, but now that Ambassador Gordon Sondland’s damning testimony is public, he might be regretting his stance.

But Rep. Lieu wasn’t finished, taking aim at Trump’s sappy sidekick in the Senate, South Carolinian Lindsey Graham.

Today, Sen. Graham decided that he would just refuse to read the transcripts of sworn witness testimony because releasing former Ukraine envoy Kurt Volker’s testimony—who resigned as executive director of the McCain Institute after testifying—and Sondland’s bombshells are apparently more facts than any Trump-defender can handle.

President Trump’s initial impeachment defense strategy was totally frustrated by the previously confidential proceedings, which even Press Secretary Grisham admitted to the AP. Since the facts are utterly damning, Republicans settled on a strategy of complaining about the due process of using the very same House Rules that even Fox News reports they themselves put into place four years ago.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) decided to turn the GOP argument of due process on its head and engineered an overwhelming vote to implement new rules that give Trump more due process than past impeachment inquiries, set the stage for open hearings and even provided for the release of previously confidential transcripts.

The President is getting so desperate, that he has even tried to pivot his re-election campaign around defending impeachment. As more damning testimony has been revealed, NBC News reports that the President’s vaunted propaganda machine is in chaos. Now, Republicans are stuck defending the indefensible, and fewer of them are even bothering to mount a defense these days than ever.
