President Trump has finally finished up embarrassing the United States at the G7 summit, at least this time around. As we’ve come to expect by now he cut a boorish figure, his willful ignorance and inability to grapple with even the rudiments of diplomacy offering a stark contrast to some of the more erudite, competent world leaders.
Apparently, the president is both aware and displeased with the way the media has been covering his disastrous trip to France as he took to Twitter today to assure us all that the summit was, in actuality, a “great success for the USA and all.”
This so-called success of his included skipping a G7 meeting on climate change as the Amazon burns, demonstrating to the world in the process that the United States under Trump has no interest in providing the kind of global leadership it used to.
The president also managed to attack President Obama numerous times, presenting the world with a petty, partisan version of America that inspires more ridicule than respect. Perhaps most bizarrely, he stated that First Lady Melania has “gotten to know” North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-un, despite the fact that the two have never met.
In his tweet, he slammed the “LameStream Media” for allegedly covering his trip inaccurately with their “FAKE NEWS.” As is so often the case with his accusations, he failed to say what exactly the media got wrong about his trip or to provide even a shred of evidence for his allegations. Presumably, he’s just peeved that the coverage was not more positive.
Frankly, it was a pathetic display. Trump wants to be praised for success but has absolutely no interest in putting in the hard work or adjusting his character to achieve it. His tenure is an abject failure by any standard and as he comes to realize that he will look for even more scapegoats. History will remember him as a cruel joke played on the world.
The G-7 was a great success for the USA and all. LameStream Media coverage bore NO relationship to what actually happened in France – FAKE NEWS. It was GREAT!
