A gun-wielding Florida teen just recorded a racist pro-KKK video and got off scot-free

Residents of Bay County, Florida are horrified by an incredibly racist video from a local that has gone viral online. In it, a white student from Mosley High School is seen brandishing weapons, pantomiming shooting, using the N-word, and talking about the KKK. Warning: it’s a deeply disturbing and offensive clip.

According to WJHG, officials for the school district will not be taking any action because the student in the video did not explicitly threaten to harm other students or school faculty. The video was forwarded to the local sheriff’s office, but they will not be taking any action either, stating that “in spite of the deeply offensive comments made by the teenager, no crime has been committed.”

Understandably, the failure to do anything about the video — especially in a national environment in which white nationalists are targeting minorities and carrying out mass shootings — has Bay County residents deeply concerned.

“It was despicable, disgusting, and deeply offensive,” Bay County NAACP President Dr. Rufus Wood said to WJHG.

“As a person of color, I feel frightened and threatened,” said Bay County Student Advocacy Center Founder and Director Gregory S. Dossie. “There are Florida state statues that they could have been charged under. And two of them could have possibly been, unlawful possession of a weapon by a minor and unlawful display of a weapon by a minor,” he explained.

Others agree that legal action should be taken against the racist individual.

“Across the country and across the state, they are arresting kids for things that are far, far less significant than this,” Tony Bostick, a local, said.

“He did a comparison to shooting ducks and saying I’m killing a N either way,” Greg Dossie, another local, said to WMBB. “He uses the N word on numerous occasions that the hate charge should be added on.”

Regardless of whether or not the student faces consequences at school, his shameful clip should be spread far and wide so that everyone he encounters knows what a vile person he is. Racists must be confronted bluntly and made to feel ashamed of their bigotry. This kind of behavior cannot be ignored.
