Ivanka just got torched for hypocritical and insincere appeal to Muslim community

While questionably sincere shows of wokeness by political figures around religious holidays are par for the course these days, every so often there’s one so offensively obtuse that it is worth a news story in its own right, if only to highlight the stunning hypocrisy of the figure involved.


Today marks the beginning of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, which honors the willingness of Ibrahim (you know him as Abraham) to obey God’s command and sacrifice his own son. But as he did so, Ibrahim found that his son was alive and a lamb had been sacrificed in his stead.

Ibrahim’s would-be sacrifice is honored by millions of Muslims around the world by the sacrificing of a lamb or goat and the sharing of the meat among their family, relatives, and the poor.

President Trump’s daughter Ivanka can always be counted on for a vacuous and cheery tweet for every occasion, but on this occasion, she struck a nerve with social media users for her complete silence on her father’s virulent Islamophobic rhetoric and policies.

Ivanka has said nothing about how her father attempted to ban all Muslims from entering the United States, nothing about how her father accused a Muslim Congresswoman of being a terrorist and told her to “go back to where she came from,” and nothing about how her father’s promotion of white supremacist rhetoric has provoked dozens of attacks on Muslims across the nation.

The white supremacist who murdered over 50 Muslims in a mosque shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand, specifically cited Donald Trump as an inspiration for his heinous deeds — and one has to wonder if the suspected white supremacist who was just arrested for attempting to shoot up an Oslo mosque on the night that Eid al-Adha began will also claim similar inspiration.

So until Ivanka disavows her racist father and his reprehensible rhetoric, we’d all prefer if Ivanka kept her simpering expressions of goodwill to herself — as social media users immediately made clear:
