With the death of the well-connected pedophile and sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein — allegedly by his own hand in his prison cell — rival conspiracy theories are flooding the internet with the left-wing denizens of social media sending #TrumpBodyCount trending and the right-wing Twitter dwellers preferring #ClintonBodyCount as their hashtag of choice.
That an outbreak of disbelief over Epstein’s reported suicide has risen the day after numerous court documents revealed the involvement of numerous prominent figures —such as former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, the late Senator George Mitchell, and the UK’s Prince Andrew — in the disgraced financier’s unsavory activities is unsurprising.
Even more unsurprising is the fact that Donald Trump has conveniently decided to retweet posts that ignore the official government account of Epstein’s death and posit the involvement of the Clinton family in what they call a deliberate murder.
Unfortunately, it should be surprising. This is the man who — however illegitimately installed — is currently occupying the office of the President of the United States of America and, instead of retweeting the vetted stories posted by actual news organizations, he’s forwarding bizarre conspiracies originating from obscure websites and right-wing comedians.
Trump was tentative at first, retweeting a true — if selectively targeted — account of the revelations contained in the court papers unsealed yesterday, one that conveniently omits the last tweet in the thread that mentions his own involvement with the convicted pedophile.
Here is the portion of the thread that Trump retweeted.

Given the chance that people could simply follow the link to see the rest of the thread, Trump ensured that his followers would get the message that he really wanted to get across with a retweet that crossed the boundary from selective reporting to pure fantasy and speculation.

Nothing puts Trump back in his comfort zone more quickly than having a familiar enemy to attack, so the conveniently-timed suicide of the man who could tell the world whether the Donald ever partook of the under-aged beauties that Epstein provided for the guests at his erotic gatherings gave him the perfect opportunity to fall back to targeting his favorite enemies.
For good measure, Trump followed up his retweets of conspiracy theories unbecoming of a president with an attack on the mainstream media that are dedicated to keeping the public aware of the real truth about the happenings in the world today.

Think how wonderful it is to be able to fight back and show, to so many, how totally dishonest the Fake News Media really is. It may be the most corrupt and disgusting business (almost) there is! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 10, 2019
If the “Fake News Media” — as Trump refers to any outlet that writes truthful stories that show him in the bad light he always generates for himself — is “almost” “the most corrupt and disgusting business” there is, then the dishonest president surely knows that its status is always exceeded by whatever business he himself is engaging in, whether it be real-estate or politics.
It’s time to reclaim the White House for someone not implicated in pedophilia scandals, coverups, collusion, and obstruction of justice. It’s time to have a president who states facts, believes in science, and respects experts. It’s time for a president who is not an embarrassment.
It’s time to get rid of Donald Trump.
