Here’s how Jeffrey Epstein’s reported suicide will affect Donald Trump

America woke to the news this morning that Jeffrey Epstein, the former financier and convicted sexual predator of under-aged girls, had committed suicide in his jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City overnight.

Epstein’s death by hanging comes a day after a bundle of legal documents from his case —detailing disturbing new details of his crimes and implicating multiple prominent political figures — was released on Friday by a federal appeals court and a month after he was mysteriously found unconscious in his cell with “bruising around the neck.”

The incident resulted in Epstein being placed on a suicide watch and being subject to daily psychiatric evaluations, according to The New York Times.  He was removed from the suicide watch on July 29th, a person with knowledge of the details of his incarceration told the newspaper.

The wealthy sex offender had been in federal custody since he was rearrested after a new federal indictment reopened charges that were minimized by a sweetheart prosecution deal brokered by former Labor Secretary in the Trump administration, Alex Acosta, over a decade ago. While not explaining why Epstein was taken off of suicide watch, Attorney General William Barr said an inquiry into the circumstances of his death would be opened.

“I was appalled to learn that Jeffrey Epstein was found dead early this morning from an apparent suicide while in federal custody,” Mr. Barr said. “Mr. Epstein’s death raises serious questions that must be answered. In addition to the FBI’s investigation, I have consulted with the Inspector General who is opening an investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Epstein’s death.”

Given that President Trump and other prominent figures were known to have attended parties thrown by Epstein which numerous under-aged girls were also reported to have been present, Epstein’s sudden death has been regarded suspiciously by many conspiracy theorists on the internet who have suggested that he may have been murdered to ensure his silence in order to protect the powerful people who would be ruined by any revelations of pedophiliac activity.

While many looked at Donald Trump as the person most likely to have the motive to order the elimination of a potentially dangerous witness to any illegal statutory rape, Russian bots and the people who retweet them were reportedly out on Twitter in full force to try to promulgate the rumor that Bill Clinton, another known associate of Epstein, was behind the death.

Exactly how the Clinton’s—  long out of power — managed to pull off the supposed plot is unmentioned, but with the federal bureaucracy now under control of the Trump administration, the president himself is a much more likely target for any conspiracy theorist not habitually blaming the Clinton’s for everything that’s wrong with the world.

While Trump has long accused the investigation of his campaign’s conspiracy with Russia in the 2016 election and of his obvious obstruction of justice in trying to prevent that investigation as a vast “deep state” conspiracy, the Mueller report long ago proved that those charges had a strong basis in reality.

What is most ironic now is the fact that Donald Trump is finally being subjected to the type of completely unfounded accusations that he launched his political career with.

The taint of allegations that he is somehow behind the murder — cleverly disguised as a suicide — of the man whose testimony could bring his presidency to an immediate end will haunt Trump for the rest of his term, just as his own “birther” accusations that former President Obama was actually born in Kenya and therefore not a legitimate president lingered on throughout his term in office even after he proved the claim to be a lie by showing the world his birth certificate.

The competing conspiracy theories now surrounding Epstein’s death are now the new normal in our polarized political environment. The truth is the real loser in this divisive climate, with Trump’s legacy of constant lying undermining any public trust that the actual circumstances of the pedophiliac sexual predator’s death will ever be known for sure.
