Ilhan Omar just hit Trump in his Achilles heel and then taunted him on Twitter

When President Trump put on his gloves to begin his politically expedient fight with the four progressive Democratic congresswomen colloquially referred to as “the squad” — Representatives Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) — he likely envisioned that they would be the perfect replacements as the target of his slanderous and lie-laden barbs — particularly since he needed to update his repertoire from the now politically irrelevant Hillary Clinton.

Perhaps he didn’t expect, however, that the explosive national outrage over his persistently tweeted racism would blow up in his face.

If the results of the latest poll from The Economist/YouGov are any indication, that is exactly what has happened, as Trump now has a lower net approval rating than any of the four congresswomen.

Trump scored a -11 net approval rating which indicates the number of points between those who approve of his performance in office and the larger number of those who disapprove, resulting in a negative number.

While each of the targeted Democratic women also had a negative net approval rating, they had much smaller margins of difference between their positive and their negative ratings.

Representatives Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, and Pressley each had -3 net approval ratings, while Congresswoman Omar’s rating was pegged at -6.

The Economist/YouGov poll was conducted between July 21 and 23, several days after Trump began his racist Twitter campaign to send the congresswomen “back to where they came from” despite the fact that three of them were born right here in America and asked the opinions of 1,500 adult American citizens.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar saw the poll and could not resist tweaking the president on his favorite social media platform.

How thoughtful of Representative Omar to send the man who has made her the target of death threats such a kind note of condolence, however sarcastic it may be! She obviously knows exactly where the ratings-obsessed president is most vulnerable.

We’ll see if Donald Trump will change his strategy based on the failure of his attacks to raise his popularity above those of the women he seems to regard as his current chief antagonists.

Given how difficult it is to teach a racist old dog woke new tricks, it’s doubtful that Trump will alter his behavior in any way whatsoever. Most likely he will double down on his attacks out of rage and frustration.
