Speaker Pelosi just scorched Trump and Jared Kushner with brutal zinger over Baltimore attacks

While House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is indelibly associated with her San Francisco home district, she was actually born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Thus, she has a personal stake in Donald Trump’s attacks on her hometown and one of its top representatives, House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD).

That personal connection to the city — where both her father and brother have served as mayors — combined with her loyalty to one of her top lieutenants to fuel her passion as she forcefully responded to Trump’s recent attacks today.

Speaker Pelosi taunted Trump for projecting his own “insecurity” in his attacks on the African American Oversight Committee Chairman and threw down the gauntlet at the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner whom she labeled as one of Baltimore’s biggest slumlords.

“To see the president demean a great leader like Elijah Cummings shows his own insecurity, and his own lack of understanding about what progress really is,” the House Speaker told reporters at the Capitol.

You really have to consider the source,” she explained.

“The president without — and this comes as no surprise — really doesn’t know what he’s talking about. But maybe he could ask his son-in-law, who’s a slumlord there, if he wants to talk about rodents,” Pelosi said, twisting the dagger.

Pelosi’s attacks on Trump notwithstanding, the president is unlikely to rescind his attacks which called the Cumming’s district “a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess” and claimed that “No human being would want to live there.”

Trump likely purposefully targeted Cummings because of the Oversight Committee Chairman’s multiple investigations of his administration’s many failings including the conditions facing detained children on the border and the use of private email servers by Ivanka Trump and her husband  Jared Kushner.

Speaker Pelosi’s brutal criticism of the president is part of a near-universal condemnation by his Democratic opponents of Trump’s most recent slew of racist tweets aimed at Democrats of color.

With Trump off to another rally tonight in Cinncinatti, we can expect that they’ll even more offensively racist statements and a fresh batch of lies to condemn by the end of the day.
