The behavior of a cornered rat is unpredictable. They could strike out in any direction at any second.
With the walls of pending impeachment closing in on Donald Trump, his behavior has become more desperate and erratic as he strikes out viciously at his investigators with attacks that recall the garroting insult comedy of Don Rickles minus the actual funny parts.
Trump turned his vituperativeness towards House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) this morning with a devastating assault on the veteran African-American congressman and the conditions in his Baltimore district.
Congressman Cummings is leading an investigation into the conduct of the Customs and Border Patrol and the well-documented abusive conditions in the detention centers in which the agency locks up refugees — an investigation that impedes Trump’s virtual ethnic cleansing campaign and angers the ethno-nationalist president greatly.
The move indicated that Trump cares as little about the accusations of racism that his recent attacks on the four congressional women of color in “the squad” engendered as he does about his multiple violations of the rule of law — for his tweets hurled towards Representative Cummings could not possibly be interpreted as anything but the very distillation of every drop of the essence of racism that courses through Trump’s veins.
….As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place

Why is so much money sent to the Elijah Cummings district when it is considered the worst run and most dangerous anywhere in the United States. No human being would want to live there. Where is all this money going? How much is stolen? Investigate this corrupt mess immediately!

At the center of every tweet that Trump spews sits one or more central lies. In this case, the glowing orb of mendacity is Trump’s claim that recent congressional tours prove that the border detention facilities are “clean, efficient, & well-run.”

How desirable it must be to have access to whatever rose-colored filter Trump uses to view the footage of the tours of the vastly overcrowded detention centers filled with smelly, sweaty refugees, denied showers and toothbrushes in the intense summer heat of Texas. For only such a filter could transform pictures like this into the spotless and orderly prisons that Trump describes.
Meanwhile, Trump’s portrayal of Baltimore sounds like a nightmare caused after overindulgence in Big Macs while binging on multiple episodes of HBO’s The Wire.
Trump tailors his fear-mongering to his legendary germophobia with his depiction of a “disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess” before he gets to the obligatory portion of every tweeted attack he sends — the part where he accuses his target of the very crimes that he himself has committed.

His accusations of corruption towards Congressman Cummings and his insinuations that money has been stolen are designed to merely stoke the flames of racism even higher among the already receptive white nationalists among his followers.
It’s telling that Trump’s latest character assassination fits the typical pattern that he uses in attacking his enemies — describe some horrendous situation regardless of the facts, assign blame for the responsibility anywhere but upon himself or his allies, and then offer no solution other than the persecution of his enemies.
Meanwhile, Representative Cummings and the chairpeople of the other House committees actively investigating Trump’s crimes are beginning to provide the solution to the intractable rodent problem in the White House— the eventual impeachment of that cornered rat who occupies the Oval Office and contaminates everything he touches.
