Today’s Congressional hearing was a chance for the Democrats to get the Special Counsel on the record declaring that his report definitively did not exonerate the president from the accusations of collusion and obstruction of justice that were leveled against him in the aftermath of the disastrous 2016 presidential elections.

For the Republicans, it was a chance for them to show off how much FOX News they’ve watched in the past year and to tell the Special Counsel how badly his investigation had hurt not just the President’s feelings but also their feelings, which is the most important thing in the world to a Republican.
Unrepentant racist, conspiracy theorist and bridge troll Louie Gohmert showed a lot of nerve today, lecturing Vietnam war veteran and career prosecutor Robert Mueller on his “reputation” and astonishingly admonished FBI agent Peter Strzok for cheating on his wife while in the context of defending Donald Trump, who has cheated on all three of his wives.
As if it wasn’t enough of a circus already, he entered into congressional record a “report” that he himself had written for the discerning fact-checkers at, uh, Hannity.com.

Gohmert went on to accuse Mueller of “being a bad guy” because he was friends with former FBI director James Comey and nearly had an aneurysm yelling about how the president was innocent and Mueller had staffed his team with people who “hated” that innocent man.

Holy crap — by the end of his questioning Gohmert's face was beet red, he was yelling, and it looked like his head was about to explode pic.twitter.com/3AXt1D5sEZ

Not to be outdone in the bootlicking department by his colleague, dedicated Trump toady Matt Gaetz (R-FL) tried to do his best Sean Hannity impression and wondered if the infamous Christopher Steele “pee tape” dossier was part of the Russian disinformation campaign, which in his opinion was very real but had no effect whatsoever on the election…but of course didn’t get very far with it, because Mueller refused to discuss the Steele Dossier at the beginning of his hearing, citing an ongoing investigation.

Social media was either horror-struck or gleefully amused by the disgraceful behavior from conservative representatives:
Today’s hearing shows that Republicans have pledged blind loyalty to Trump, not to the constitution, not to the law and absolutely not to justice. I am ashamed that I was a Republican #MuellerHearing.

Expect this kind of ridiculous behavior and flagrant disregard for the truth to continue throughout the day. The Republican Party has made it clear that they have put aside their oaths to uphold the Constitution in favor of protecting a treasonous rapist and should all be run out of office in disgrace.
What percentage of GOP congressmembers consume, personally, only conservative media? Seems pretty high! And you can tell the difference between them and the ones still tethered to a world outside Fox.

Every Republican that steps up to question Mueller. #MuellerHearing pic.twitter.com/HeM4Rj7rdk

Why is every Republican screaming at Mueller's hearing?
Jim Jordan's flop-sweat, Gaetz, Collins, and Gohmert with their conspiracy theories. I'm half expecting one of them to start talking about Area 51.
Bloody embarrassing. #muellerhearingspic.twitter.com/ICPCrV3Los

Mueller served as a Marine Corps officer during Vietnam & received a Bronze Star for heroism. He was appointed to positions by Bush, Clinton, Bush & Obama. And he was the Director of the FBI.
It’s infuriating Republican members of Congress act rudely to him. #MuellerHearing
