Trump just unleashed a pathetic tweetstorm about impeachment a day before Mueller testifies

The usual propagandistic lies started early this morning on Donald Trump’s Twitter feed, but he decided to start the day with a whopper.

It’s telling that Trump doesn’t bother citing the source of the “newest poll” claiming that only 11% of Americans support his impeachment. That’s because every other recent broad-based poll of any reliability shows a much higher number of people who wish to rid the country of this president with immediate expediency.

A survey conducted by The Hill-HarrisX at the end of May found that 35 percent of registered voters said they supported impeachment proceedings against Trump, compared with 45 percent who disagreed. The rest were undecided. The most recent composite of multiple polls by FiveThirtyEight has Trump’s approval rating at only 42.9% – admittedly higher than at other points of his presidency but below every other post World War II president at the same time in his term except for Jimmy Carter.

While the president mentions Trump Derangement Syndrome as an affliction affecting Democrats, the real derangement remains in his assumption that a majority of voters will believe his lies — or at least a minority of voters living in key swing states that will help him win another electoral college victory defying the will of the majority of Americans.

Trump moved on to a few perfunctory, throat-clearing tweets, including a congratulatory message to new UK Prime Minister Boris Jonson, his British counterpart in bombastic, malevolent political subterfuge, before tackling more meaty subjects.

He bragged about his socialist government handout to American farmers who were harmed by his misguided tariff war with China before launching into an attack on the Democrats whom he accuses of trying to make America a socialist nation — ignoring the massive corporate socialism and the popular socialist programs like Medicare and Social Security that have already long been part of the fabric of the American economic system.

Almost isn’t enough, Donald. Spreading lies about Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) won’t help you win the state containing the district that she represents with your fear-based smears.

Trump also expects the public to buy into his obviously ignorant immigration logic that somehow believes that by withholding foreign aid to Central American countries like Guatemala and worsening conditions there, he will help staunch the flow of desperate refugees seeking a better life for themselves and their families as the ancestors of every current United States citizen — save for pure-blooded Native Americans — traveled to this country to do.

Finally, Trump resurrected a sore point from yesterday when he went on a rant after the media reported the fact that in actuality not a single inch of a new border wall has been constructed since he took office and that all that has happened has been the renovation and replacement of previously existing fencing that had fallen into disrepair.

While the vast majority of border control experts don’t believe that a wall will prevent the myriad of problems that Trump attributes to the lack of a physical barrier on our southern border, the president waxed defensively on how much better his new barrier is than the old fencing it replaced, even though no new territory has been protected by newly built construction.

Just another day in the litany of lies that is the president’s Twitter feed. We can expect to see even more tomorrow when Special Counsel Robert Mueller takes the stand in front of two congressional committees. Fact-checkers, be prepared to work over-time!
