The animosity between Donald Trump and London Mayor Sadiq Khan is no secret. The Muslim mayor has been a fierce critic of the bigoted president since the beginning of his term, stridently opposing Trump’s immigration policies towards refugees and his racist ban on foreign nationals from seven predominantly Muslim countries from visiting America.
Trump — a malignant narcissist with an ego bloated to the point of fragility — has long held a grudge against Khan who called the president “one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat” on account of his white nationalist views.
He now regularly tweets attacks against Khan anytime negative news about something happening in London interrupts the cornucopia of right-wing bloviation that passes for news in the steady diet of Fox News that seems to be the primary source of Trump’s daily briefings on the events of the world.
Trump found a new opportunity to renew his feud with Mayor Khan today when news of the hacking of the website of the London Metropolitan Police became known.
With the incompetent Mayor of London, you will never have safe streets! https://t.co/pJqL1NjyvA
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 20, 2019
The connection between safe streets and cybersecurity may be negligible, but facts and reality matter little to this president who is obsessed with the appearance of dominance and victory rather than honest reporting of reality.
According to the BBC, the London Police’s website has “been subject to unauthorized access” that allowed the hackers to send a series of since-deleted “bizarre” emails and tweets that included “offensive language” and references to pop culture such as a tweet about rapper Digga D.
The police have said that a hack of MyNewsDesk, the online provider it contracts with to issue news releases and to manage its internet communications, was to blame for the unauthorized postings and pledged to investigate the source of the hack.
While Mayor Kahn himself has yet to dignify Trump’s tweet with a response, other Twitter users stepped in to defend him from the president’s snark and to condemn Trump for retweeting a post from a notorious British racist.
Trump has once again provided Americans, as well as the rest of the world, with a perfect example of why he is completely unqualified to continue to serve as president.
His deeply held racist convictions fly in the face of everything that America stands for and his disrespect for the ideals embodied in the Constitution that he swore to uphold is reason enough to begin immediate impeachment proceedings.
It’s time for the House to reject political considerations and act on principle to remove Donald Trump from office now.
