The crowd at Trump’s rally just broke into a terrifying new chant after he viciously smeared Ilhan Omar

After a tumultuous day in Washington which saw the Democratic Party kill their own member’s impeachment bill, a successful vote to hold his Attorney General in contempt, and a Republican member of the Senate obstruct the passage of a bill to fund 9/11 first responders, President Trump took off for Greenville, North Carolina, for yet another one of his periodic adulation-and-demagoguery rallies.

Hungry like a shark that smells the blood and soil in the water after his week-long racist smear campaign against four Democratic women representatives of color — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-IL) — it did not take long for the president to go off the rails tonight.

In an appalling series of false and misleading smears at Rep. Ilhan Omar, Trump accused her of sympathizing with terrorism, downplaying the severity of 9/11, and of being anti-Semitic.

Then the crowd responded — with terrifying chants of “SEND HER BACK.”

On top of that, he repeated his taunting xenophobic comments from earlier this week, telling them to “leave if they don’t love it here.”

In his attacks on Democrats, he painted them as un-American and enemies of the American way of life, using the barely coded language of white nationalism to drum up hatred and fear against Democratic women of color.

And they loved it. The crowd loved it, lapped it up like the hooting and baying swine they are. The polls that showed Trump’s support among Republicans rising after his recent racist attacks definitely aren’t an anomaly.

We have to reckon with the fact that a not-insignificant portion of this country openly embraces racist ideas and is over the moon at the sight of the president tearing away at the weak sutures that hold this nation’s deep racial wounds together.

But first, we have to make sure that Ilhan Omar is safe. The almost constant stream of death threats against her is going to spike heavily after this disgusting display of Islamophobic lies from the President of the United States.
