If you turned on your TV or went anywhere online in the past several days you were bound to be confronted with coverage of Donald Trump’s incredibly racist rhetoric. The president has decided to escalate his bigotry beyond any semblance of subtlety in advance of the 2020 elections in the hopes that his hateful supporters will be spurred to show up to the ballot box en masse.

Now, AOC has revealed a silver lining in Trump’s vile rhetoric turn. She tweeted that the “good news” about Trump explicitly vocalizing his racism is that he is no longer hiding behind vague suggestions. That, in turn, means “his words can be used by courts as evidence of his motivation.” In other words, his tweets themselves could prove useful in undermining his cruel immigration policies.

Ocasio-Cortez linked to an article in The Washington Post which explains how Trump’s racism could be used by courts to block his immigration policies if judges cite them. Hopefully, this turns out to be a case. Trump’s outed racism being the downfall of Trump’s racist policy is just too perfect.
