Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar just teamed up to torch Trump for his pitiful excuses for racist attacks on them

President Trump threw one of his trademark Twitter tantrums this morning,  this time in reaction to the announcement that House Democrats will be holding a vote to condemn his shockingly racist comments.

The scandal first ignited when the president told Democratic Congresswomen Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley — all women of color — to go back to their own countries. Three of them were born in raised in the United States and the fourth, Omar, is a Somali-American immigrant. In the face of the immediate, widespread backlash Trump decided to ratchet his bigotry up even more by smearing Omar, a Muslim, as being a fan of Al-Qaeda.

In his morning tweets, Trump insisted that he is “NOT racist” and that he doesn’t have a “Racist bone” in his body, a frankly absurd claim coming from the man who painted Mexicans as rapists, regularly characterizes all Muslims as terrorists, and routinely attacks black athletes and public figures. Trump is racist to the core and one would have to be incredibly naive to believe his claims at this point.

Now, AOC has struck back by replying to Trump’s tweetstorm. First, she focused on his claim that the Democratic Congresswomen are “spewing some of the most vile, hateful, and disgusting things ever said by a politician.” This is, of course, ludicrous at face value and Ocasio-Cortez shredded him by bringing up his infamous on-tape brags about sexually assaulting women.

She then proceeded to slam Trump for choosing to be president of only a segment of the population.

Finally, AOC zeroed in on the president’s claim that he doesn’t have a “racist bone” in his body. She agreed with him, pointing out that the problem is that he has a “racist mind” in his head and a “racist heart” in his chest, as apt a description of Donald Trump as one can imagine.

The Congresswoman correctly pointed out that it’s this racial animus that pushes Trump to treat undocumented migrants, including children, so cruelly and also why he decided to attack her and her fellow reps in the first place. It’s refreshing to see an elected official bluntly label Trump as a racist, and it’s something more politicians and media figures need to start doing.

Rep. Ilhan Omar soon threw her support behind Ocasio-Cortez, saying that Trump wants Americans to forgot all of his past despicable language and that what he and supporters once defended as “locker room talk” has now become “Oval Office talk.” She added that we have to hold Donald Trump accountable, and it’s high time we did just that. The House vote to condemn him is a great start, but we also need to start seriously discussing impeachment.
