Trump just continued his racist crusade against Dem women with hateful Monday Twitter tirade

Over the weekend, President Trump sunk to an incredibly racist new low by tweeting out that four Democratic Congresswomen, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley— all women of color — should “go back” to their own countries despite the fact that all but one of them was born and raised in the United States. The backlash was widespread and immediate, but rather than distance himself from the comments, Trump has decided to double down on his bigotry, presumably in the hopes that it will appeal to his base.

Trump took to Twitter to muse that he deserves an apology, strangely bringing Israel into the mix in what was presumably an attempt to imply the Congresswomen are anti-semites. He whined about their “foul language,” which is of course ironic coming from the “grab them by the p*ssy” president.” One tweet apparently wasn’t enough though, because he followed it up with another, making the stunning accusation that the women of color he has been attacking are “racist.” He invoked Israel once again, doubling down on his tepid efforts to paint the Congresswomen as the real bigots.

Trump still wasn’t satisfied with his attacks though and decided to quote one of his most loyal lapdogs, Senator Lindsey Graham, calling the Congresswomen a “bunch of Communists,” although none of them are.  He said that they “hate Israel” and “hate our own country,”  and attacked them for criticizing the inhumane detention centers along the southern border.

It was an incredibly unconvincing bad faith argument of the kind we’ve come to expect from Graham and Trump, striking a laughable apocalyptic note by insisting that AOC and her fellow Congresswomen will “destroy” the country. It was a thoroughly pathetic Twitter performance and a sharp reminder that the GOP has no legitimate criticism to level at Democrats and must resort to absurd smears. Trump and Graham owe these women an apology that they will never give. Expect things to go further downhill from here.
