President Trump escalated his racist war of words against Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and three other representatives earlier today, making the insane accusation that Omar is a fan of Al Qaeda. It’s of course no coincidence that our bigoted leader chose to single out four women of color and his shameful smear of Omar is clearly rooted in his well-documented Islamophobia. He knows that insulting and attacking these women incites the large chunk of his supporters who hold bigoted beliefs.
Trump’s comments quickly went viral, with the Republicans’ failure to immediately condemn them revealing what a truly corrupt and immoral party the GOP has become. As long as he pushes their plutocratic agenda they’re more than happy to let him get away with anything.
Photos have now emerged revealing the talking points Trump brought with him to the podium, revealing that the most odious elements were premeditated. There is an amusing wrinkle though, in that one photo reveals that Trump absolutely butchered the spelling of “Al Qaeda,” writing it as “Alcaida.” It also appears that he also spelled people as “peopl.” This man wants us to take him seriously when he discusses these issues, but he can’t even bother to learn basic details like spelling.
Beyond the obvious humorous element, the notes also reveal that Trump is approaching this new racist rhetoric push methodically as evinced by his listed talking points. Presumably, he believes that white nationalism will help him win reelection and so it seems to safe to presume that he will lean more and more into hatemongering as 2020 nears. It’s clear that his party has no intention of standing up to him, so it falls to every patriotic American to fight tooth and nail to eject him from office. Every day he drags us down further down into the gutter with him and he must be stopped.
Twitter backlash was swift.

His comments have the intellectual heft of a lazy middle schooler's speech class assignment, and it looks even worse on paper. Why does the media ignore the bigger picture–that the president is mentally ill and grossly ignorant?
