Cables of the UK ambassador trashing Trump just leaked and they’re spot on

One of the most common of the many, many, many complaints about President Trump is the way that he’s embarrassed our nation in the eyes of the international community — and for good reason.

His absolutely piss-poor standing with our closest allies was made painfully obvious on Saturday when the British newspaper the Daily Mail released some leaked cables from the United Kingdom’s ambassador to the United States, and they offer a brutal glimpse into how the ostensible leader of the free world is thought of.

A UK government office confirmed to CNN that Ambassador Sir Kim Barroch, of Her Majesty’s Diplomatic Service, called him “inept,” “insecure” and “incompetent.” Sadly, Ambassador Barroch is spot on. President Trump is quite obviously all of those things and much worse.

In a telling display of how poor relations have become between our two nations, the British didn’t even bother attempting to chastise him for the disrespect in a dry statement from the Foreign Commonwealth Office:

“The British public would expect our Ambassadors to provide Ministers with an honest, unvarnished assessment of the politics in their country. Their views are not necessarily the views of Ministers or indeed the government. But we pay them to be candid. Just as the US Ambassador here will send back his reading of Westminster politics and personalities… Of course we would expect such advice to be handled by Ministers and civil servants in the right way and it’s important that our Ambassadors can offer their advice and for it remain confidential. Our team in Washington have strong relations with the White House and no doubt that these will withstand such mischievous behaviour”

President Trump has singlehandedly dragged our relationship with the UK through the mud with his deplorable and openly racist feud with London’s Mayor, Saddiq Khan, for his disparaging tweets following recent terror attacks in the UK, and by accusing the British intelligence services of wiretapping him at the behest of the Obama administration with absolutely no evidence.

No wonder the Ambassador doesn’t think too highly of him!
