An ex-Fox reporter just publicly trashed his old network and spilled their dirty laundry

The noxious far-right agenda of Fox News is no secret. The station pumps a steady stream of toxic propaganda into millions of living rooms across the country, serving up a stew of bigotry, misinformation, and regressive politics courtesy of a roster of overpaid ignoramuses, cryptofascists, and outright racists. It’s impossible to truly calculate the enormous damage Fox has inflicted on this nation’s collective psyche, but the deeply divided state of our nation stands as a testament to its power.

It’s rare we get a peek at how the vile sausage is made at this hate factory but it’s always fascinating when we do. Now, The Hill reports that former Fox News reporter Carl Cameron has once again confirmed what many of us already knew. Cameron said today that he departed from the network in 2017 after twenty years because quite bluntly “right-wing hosts drowned out straight journalism with partisan misinformation.”

The comments came in the form of a new advertisement video explaining why he has decided to join Front Page Live which is intended to be a response to the right-wing news outlets that plaster the internet. He is serving as the site’s chief political correspondent.

“What’s a former Fox guy doing here on Front Page Live partnering with progressives? Well, it’s about facts, not partisanship,” said Cameron. He explained that he was originally drawn to Fox News by its pitch to provide “fair and balanced” news but that over time he realized that was not the case.

“But over the years, the right-wing hosts drowned out straight journalism with partisan misinformation. I left,” he said. Cameron believes that he has something to offer to viewers because he has a “unique insight and understanding of how the right operates and literally 30 years of covering Donald Trump.”

His cofounder Joseph Romm, who also founded ClimateProgress, has said that he hopes their new site can serve as an “antidote to the Drudge Report” and appears to sport a somewhat similar format to that infamous right-wing online publication. Hopefully, they succeed in helping to push back against the rampant conservative lies constantly spread through the internet and blasted out by Fox News. Now, more than ever, this kind of work is crucial for the survival of our democracy.
