Donald Trump engaged in some more of his trademark delusional hyperbole today. During an interview with Fox & Friends — his favorite sycophantic propaganda program — he discussed his plans to change the paint scheme for Air Force One. He defended his decision to change the current appearance after Brian Kilmeade voiced concern over the fact that it’s been “iconic for so long,” reports Politico.
“I like the concept of red, white, and blue and the classic. And I think it’s going to look much better, actually. The baby blue doesn’t fit with us. And people get used to something and it was Jackie O. and that’s good,” Trump said referring to the specific baby blue named after the color of the dress the beloved former first lady wore to the inauguration of her husband JFK.
“But we have our own Jackie O. today. It’s called Melania. Melania. We’ll call it Melania key,” he said, comparing his opportunist, ineffectual wife to one of the most beloved First Ladies of all time. Also of note is the fact that he referred to his wife as “it” instead of “her,” which makes sense since he treats women like objects.
Melania should not and cannot be celebrated. While she is not as publicly odious as her husband, she has repeatedly failed to denounce his actions even as he undermines our democracy, throws children in cages, and breaks the law left and right. Ironically, her flagship initiative was to stop cyberbullying, but she has never once called out her husband for the daily abuse he heaps out on people via Twitter. At best she’s an enabler, at worse she’s an accomplice.

Twitter was quick to shred Trump for the absurd comparison. Some pointed out that if any First Lady qualifies as a “new Jackie O” it would be Michelle Obama, who embodies the grace and compassion that Melania so sorely lacks.

Ha! He wishes. Jackie O didn’t support putting kids in cages, didn’t commit plagiarism, didn’t come to this country illegally and work to keep others out. https://t.co/LDDDggonrO

Jackie O had class. No one named trump has ever had class and never will. Sorry DJT. Even being president doesn’t earn you class, which you have amply demonstrated. https://t.co/hEyRLvI89q

Jackie O was the epitome of grace & beauty. She overcame a plethora of hardships & heartaches, with poise and elegance. She was an incredible First Lady & an even more marvelous woman. She balanced passions + duties, and did so with class.
Don’t EVER compare her to Melania. pic.twitter.com/tRzVJLEtNI

For everyone who thinks Melania is a decent person who hates her husband like the rest of us: Trump’s “Jackie O” is a birther. Birtherism is fucking racist. Racism is the ultimate form of bullying. Melania is not a victim, she’s a fucking bully who continues to defend Trump.

Comparing Jackie O to Melania T is like comparing a good mother to Casey Anthony.

Jackie O?
What next, she's got more degrees than Michelle Obama? pic.twitter.com/OFXUXqI79w— Jaime Lopez (@Lopeezie) June 14, 2019
