Donald Trump is still in Europe which means that instead of bothering Americans at home he’s out embarrassing us abroad. He’s been president for almost two and a half years and he still acts like the reality television oaf he always has been. Time has not made him more presidential, and if anything it’s made him even more undignified.
Now, The Hill is reporting that President Trump has proven unable to behave himself even today, the 75th anniversary of D-Day. While giving an interview at a cemetery in Normandy, France he chose to attack Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Special Counsel Robert Mueller, dishonoring the memories of those buried nearby in the process.
Ironically, the interview was conducted by Laura Ingraham, a Fox News cryptofascist and white nationalist who better embodies the ideas of the men who defended the beaches from their pillboxes than the ones who stormed Normandy all those years ago. Trump told her that Mueller made a “fool” of himself last week, referring to the comments the Special Counsel made which implied Trump should be impeached.
“Because what people don’t report is the letter he had to do to straighten out his testimony because his testimony was wrong,” Trump outlandishly claimed, offering no evidence as is his habit, tossing more conspiracy theory drivel to his rabid base.
The president then proceeded to attack Pelosi.
“Nancy Pelosi, I call her Nervous Nancy, Nancy Pelosi doesn’t talk about [Mueller’s statement]. Nancy Pelosi is a disaster, OK? She’s a disaster. Let her do what she wants, you know what? I think they’re in big trouble,” he said.
This shameful smear would be a disgraceful performance at any time, but to do it today of all days is unthinkable. By dragging his petty partisan politics to Normandy Trump has disrespected all the heroic fallen who sacrificed their lives to defeat Nazism. He is an utter disgrace and a continued source of national humiliation.
Trump lies about Mueller, claiming that Mueller sent a “letter” to correct his “testimony.”

Pelosi, for her part, was a complete class act. When asked about Trump’s comments, she chose to bite her tongue rather than sink to his level.
“I don’t talk about the president while I’m out of the country. That’s my principle,” the Speaker said.
